Civlopedia lists Towers as being a terrain feature allowing extra LOS, but I have not yet seen even one.

It´s Sentry Tower, and they appear randomly trough the map. Whenever a unit is in the same tile as the tower, it gain a promotion (I think the name is Lookout) that increases its line of sight (by 2 or 3 I think). The bonus is cumulative whit other Sentry promotions, so its nice to put a unit whit Sentry I for example on the tower and get a huge line of sight.

OK, right, got that, but I have not found one on any map I've played in ffh2.

Ah, that explains it. I play Smartmap with deserts and tundra off. I guess I'll turn them back on next game now that I know I can terraform / Genesis.... :)

Well, it's cheating when you remove all deserts and tundra (for me atleast)...

What do you mean the actual 3D shape might not even exist? It's a torus, like a doughnut or bagel shape (the ones with the hole in the middle, of course) and you can do it in vanilla in 1.61 - Sirian altered a couple of things to allow wrapping N/S, E/W or both.

Removing deserts and toundra is not cheating... it's self-destructive :D No more incense (or very few), deer, fur, whales, no more "empty spaces" you know even the computer will avoid settling in, no more flood plains, less of those resources that are often found in deserts (including gold), no more Dovellio defensive bonus (even if it doesn't work that well)... really, you want deserts and toundra.

You kinda screw the Doviello and Malakim over like that... "/

I wasn't aware of the "terraforming" abilities. Deserts and Tundra before was an annoyance.
