[NFP] Where do most our yields come from?

Virtually everyone (most players honestly) who plays Civ5 on Warlord or above did not like that. Micro'ing cities are a bit fun, but missing out on expanding is definitely not.

In a perfect world, there are some situations where it is correct to go tall, others where it is better to go wide. They focused on that in Civ 5, but all they accomplished was a balance merry-go-round that bounced between wide and tall strategies being meta. In Civ 6, its just been all wide, all the time. The first four games had mechanics that tried to restrict wide play, but they never really worked. Civ 5 was the first game to accomplish that, in my experience.

Its really hard to do right. Civ has always had an aspect of "well, the best way to play is to imitate a swarm of locusts, but that's not always fun, and I can beat the AI without playing that way so I mostly just do what I want."

I could get why higher skill players didn't like it - 5 required you to play differently than what the first four games required. But frankly, if I was playing Civ to minmax, I would play a game more suitable to that gaming philosophy like DOTA or Starcraft.
