Where the hell does my BTS files go on Vista?

I install the vanilla fine. Then, when I'm installing BTS, everything is fine and dandy. It asks for the disks, it downloads the files. The problem is, I have no freaking idea where those files are going. I search my computer and there is only a folder in my tony/documents/mygames/ that has one ini.bak file. I don't know why my files (more like "file") is going there instead of my already in use Firaxis one. Vista sucks. Shocking, eh? But when I go to my Control Panel/Unistall Programs, it has the BtS exe there for me to unistall! I took the disk out of the disk drive, to make sure it wasn't reading from the disk only, but it's still in the Control Panel/Unistall Programs, so I know the files are somewhere.

I'm sorry if I'm not making any sense, but this is pissing me off. It's not just Civilization, but all other games. It's Vistas freaking problem and I am pissed off and wondering why I wasted my money buying a new computer with this devil crap. So please, if you can read through this rant, can you help me? I am able to play it fine, but I don't know where the files, therefore, I cannot have mods or do anything. Fir the 100th time, where are my files?!!

Firaxis puts them in 3 or 4 "trees"

• \Program Files\Firaxis or \Program Files(x86)\Firaxis ...
• C:\Users\Tony\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword or Sid Meier's Civilization 4
• C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Local\My Games\Beyond the Sword
• or
• C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Roaming\ ... Sid Meier's ...

The "AppData" files are hidden by default. The BtS on mine went to "Local" while the other two had always gone to "Roaming". That might be due to an "install for all users" choice I made though.
IIRC, and there's more help in the mod forum, your Mods will be going somewhere under \Documents.

Thanks for responding. I cooled down a bit However, my files are in neither of those. All I got is that ini.bak file, nothing else. And yet, in my Control/Programs, I am able to uninstall BTS. So, its somewhere coded, but my Search can't find it, nor is it in any of those folders. So any other ideas?

Plus, do you know anyway I can set my Vista to download my expansions (it's only my game expansions that do this, the vanilla games are installed in their own proper folder) in the folder they are "meant" to go?

Both of my expansions installed to folders in the vanilla folder. There are a lot of folders as well as shortcuts to the /documents, etc., in there.
Not sure that's helpful, but I hope it narrows it a bit.

If your just playing SP mods then then installing them in the My Games folder under Civ4 or Walords or BTS/Mods will work just fine as Auldian has stated. For MP mods we all need to install them in the same place generally the program files/firaxis games/civ4/BTS(or other XP's)/mods

I'm not sure why you can't see any of these folders as they are not hidden files or folders even in vista.

I don't think you guys understand my situation. I don't know where my files are. So how am I suppose to find my Mods folder to put new mods in? I can't Search anything on my computer. However, I can unistall it somehow using Control Panel. Can anyone else help me out?
