Civ VI Gathering Storm will be released on 14 February 2019. Game of the Month will be using the new expansion in creating games for you to play.

Who do you want to play first in Gathering Storm? (You may make up to three choices and you may change your selection.) Information about the new Civilizations available in Gathering Storm and new units and game mechanics may be found in Bite's roundup of Gathering Storm. There are also many threads on Gathering Storm in Civ VI General Discussions. Let's see what we can find for new features and, unfortunately, bugs and/or exploits.

If you reply, please note what difficulty you would like to play and what Victory Condition you would choose. Thanks.

As the mid-month game usually comes out on the 15th of the month, we may have a delay of a day or two to get a save up, tested and ready. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

I think the Maori and Inca have some very interesting abilities. I would definitely like a game where we can test a new victory condition, maybe Diplomatic Victory, or the revamped Science Victory? Since it's the difficult game, definitely Immortal :)

Similar to BarbarianHunter but small, underlined changes
Inca, immortal, science
Phoenicia, deity, domination
Mali, immortal, culture

Maori, King, Culture / Diplomatic
Hungarian, Immortal, Religious
Ottoman, Diety, Science

How about Emperor since it's the first and that's the only difficulty that is used in both the high and low, thus more folks will play it.

Emperor for the first of the new release so those that normally don't play at the higher levels can still join in.
Diplomatic since it is new.
Any civ that seems to help with diplomatic victory.

Edit:
Kupe of Maori, starting in the ocean just sound awesome, though I would switch the victory condition to Culture - love the 'no great writers.'

55/56 were Emperor and Immortal in a row; it’s time for a “normal” game. I vote for King.

Like @Eyswein said, a Maori culture victory sounds just awesome. Very curious of the results we will get in a game without chopping :crazyeye:

If I understand the Maori correctly, you can chop forests and jungles, but can't harvest any of the bonus resources. However, since you get massive bonuses from unimproved forest and jungle tiles you wouldn't want to chop them.

I think you are right. But with Flight, you also get tourism for forest tiles which doubles with computers; so definitely not chopping seems a viable strategy.

It seems I'll be creating a save with Maori on Island Plates at Emperor with a Victory Condition of Culture. :)

Setting up a game for Maori is an interesting experience. Highly recommend you play a test game or two on the settings as it can be a real challenge!!

A trial game also prompted me to update drivers :)

Whilst trying to finish GOTM56 my SSD died, so now a fresh install of windows & civ

Was the seed # in Rise & Fall? or is that new to Gathering Storm?

In the beginning of the Maori live stream, the devs explained that when the map is generated, it is divided per the number of players, so that each player gets an assigned 'area' where they are expected to settle. But when the Maori are in the game, they are disregarded and everyone gets more space effectively.

I did start a few games with the Maori already, and found it very interesting. A nice trick is to postpone selecting a technology to research until you've found a nice place to settle, because the science accumulates behind the scenes so you can choose a tech at a later time. They also appear very good at findings city states, especially on island-y maps :)

Also now I just noticed the icon for diplomacy was a lectern. I always wondered why it was a cup of latte :mischief:

Here's hoping Sweden is next. Just did a domination game with them and it was the most fun I've had in GS yet. This civ is amazing.
