I've seen this kind of thread a million times, but probably Brazil or France to try the culture Victory, maybe on small continents or a low-sea level archipelago.
I voted Morocco but it's between them or Venice. Both look like very solid trade teams. I'm probably going to go for a standard or more on a continents map.
Edit: Poor Zulu, they will be the last to get a vote.
I'm going Shoshone first for the old staid and true Diplo victory. I'm anxious to try Venice, Portugal, and Indonesia once I get a feel for the new mechanics. I'm thinking I will try Venice for my first Cultural victory. I'm also considering the Zulu for a Autocratic diplo victory, just for the lulz.
At some point I will also try out the Byzantines, just to see how much the new Piety helps them out. And India too. If they didn't feel compelled to change it much, then the new mechanics must help them to a certain extent. I intend to find out.
I was going to go with poland or morocco but now I think I might go Brazil to try the new culture victory. Seems intimidating though, so many possible great work slots, it doesn't seem like you couldever fill them all !
I keep changing my mind. At first I was gonna go with the Shoshone, then the Zulu, but now I'm thinking it might be best to go with Poland. They're not really focused on any victory type, so they might be the best choice for learning all the new mechanics and changes.
It's probably not a popular choice as a first civ to try because they are geared toward conquest and the whole BNW expansion is about diplomacy and culture.
I think a lot of people would like to try the Zulu, just not on their first game.
Venice. I'll be playing a multiplayer match with some friends in a day or so, and I need plenty of time practicing the phrase, "Nobody expects the VENETIAN ACQUISITION!" for when I take their city-state allies.
I'm going to pick a random civ and visit all the new civs in thier diplo meeting screens to check those out! Then I'll play a game probably with Poland.
