Which patch do i need if...

Hey Anyone!

Ive got the Ultimate Civ2 Classic collection, which patch do i need to upgrade to the next MPE??? And if it is the patch i d/l yesterday (the patch listed there as Ultimate civ2 classic collection) how do you actually load coz i unzipped into my civ 2 folder and it asked me if i wanted to overwrite existing files, i said yes and then civ2 didnt work lol.

Please help somebody!

The patch you wanted was the v1.3 patch for MGE/UCC. You'll need to reinstall UCC, then apply that patch. However, I would recommend installing the patch only if you want to do multiplayer. In that case it would be a necessity. If you only intend solo play, the patch introduces some rather annoying pop-ups (the exact nature of which I forget. Somebody help me here!). I had the patch installed for MGE, but took it off because I don't play multiplayer.

But how do you actually apply the patch?? I mean i copied unzipped the files into my civ2 directory, said yes to override existing files with the same names.. went to open it and it said "needs this file to open this application" I cant remember the name

Therefore simply reinstalling civ2 and then applying the patch the way i did again will stuff civ2 up wont it? are you meant to go into the game to install the patch?? i really dunno!!

well..its sounds like you did it correctly.

The "official" PC patch doesn't upgrade versions.It just changes a few things that were having problems in MP games.

Only thing I can suggest is make doubly sure you have the right version with the right patch.Then re-do it all.Clean install..then patch...restart and cross fingers..

The v1.3 patch available from this site is an executable, not a zip file. You have to run it, and it does whatever it does to upgrade your software.

Hey Guys, thanks for your reply. The problem was i had downloaded the wrong patch! Silly me!!!

Its all fixed now... Now all i want to do is get the netbieu thing on my poota then see if multiplayer will work for me
