Well, DDR, which stands for double data rate, but I'm sure their are several outside variables that can affect that as well.

RD stands for Rambuss dynamic and DDR for the Double thing.
Actually somewhere I heard DDR is faster than RD
And new computers seem to be using DDR now instead of RD

RD operates at 400 MHz (PC800)
the fastest DDR is PC2100 (or is it 2600) and it operates at 333MHz.
But the difference is the data path.....which in RD in 16 bit and DDR 64 bit.
Also...RD is more expensive...less effective over 256MB and is a ***** to install. Not to meantion pairing and CRIMMS...bah.....

Rambus goes up to 1066MHz, not just 800 anymore. I personally like the DDR option because of the fact that it is cheaper plus RDRAM is not available for AMD (I won't guy P4s cause they cost too much in ratio to the performance, just like Rambus).

Personally, as I said, I would go with DDR, but I have to point out the fact that Rambus does seem better. BUT, it all depends on what you are using it for.

RD is very easy to install...I installed 512 MB of the stuff on my machine.
The problem with it is simply the cost IMHO.

Right.. Rd is the fastest i thought. But it`s the most expensive also..
RD is far more expensive than DDR, currently I get along pretty well with my AMD Athlon 1400 mhz 256 DDR RAM, keep in mind that the DDR is twice as fast than the more regular SD RAM.
Normally, SD is 133 mhz and DDR is 266 mhz (aint sure about the unit)
