Which victory options do you allow?

I'm sure there's a thread like this out there somewhere, but i haven't the inclination to search for it.

The options i use are:

Conquest
Domination
Cultural
Regicide

The space race option i find, makes things too easy, and i've yet to try the diplomatic option because frankly, i don't understand how it works, and i'd be quite pleased if someone were to elucidate me on this matter.

Thanks,

T.

I leave them all on (well, the "standard" VCs anyway -- haven't used VPs or Regicide yet).

Diplomacy, to me, is a very easy win. Simply keep your opponents as happy as you can. I often give gifts, and sign agreements I normally wouldn't. Don't break agreements, don't violate ROPs, etc. If I'm within 20 turns of the U.N. being built, I'll keep an eye open for starting/getting-into a war with the AI that's, most likely, going to be my political adversary -- whereupon I'll attempt to bring the rest of the world in against them (Civs will never "vote" for a Civ they're at war with).

I never use Diplomatic, how can so many civs get along and vote one leader
after warfare from 4000bc onward? :crazyeye: I don't see as reasonable
so I never use it ;) . Sometimes I disable culture wins too just because :p .

I normally leave them all on, but the current game I decided to challange myself more and just left Domination, Conquest, and Culture on.

In my most recent game completed and the one I started yesterday, I had all victory conditions off. This means it is totally dependent on score. I also extended this latest game 150 years to 2200.

How do I get score? If you turn off all the victories, what counts into your score?

Same with Victory Points, what counts into your score?

Conquest, Culture, Domination, sometimes Diplo or Space.
But Regicide and Elimination distort things too much - good for a change of pace, but knowing that capturing any one city eliminates an opponent makes it too easy. And their King usually just sits in the capital, right?

I always play with Conquest, Domination, Cultural, Diplomatic, and Spaceship on. I like having all the regular options available.

usually standard, some times with space race off so you could play some time in modern times if it's an interesting game.

I think warmongering is boring, i fight wars when attacked or in a need of expansion to keep up. I always seem to be largest power or at least one of the most powerful. I expand much early, i often playing seafaring and then just watch my neighbors and adapt to them. If my neighbors is mongols i naturally have to have a bigger army because they are one of the worst warmongers, but mostly i try to be friendly by trading and growing my cities. Also, i tend to build culturally wonders during peaceful times. If there are another continent i rush for navigation to contact them first, not giving away maps or contacs and sell techs and trade to get really rich and thus powerful. This way its possible to achieve any victory condition.

I would like more victory conditions like economical and scientifical victory.

All except Wonder which is only usefiul for scenarios, IMHO.

I only play with conquest victory on, unless it's a large or huge map, then domination. I find the other victory types just plain boring.
