Oooh.. another existential question. :king:

What will be our civilization?

Please state your top 5 choices in order. They will be scored using the Eurovision Songfestival system:
The first one will get five points / cinq points / funf punkte.
The second one will get four points / quatre points / vier punkte.
The third one will get three points / trois points / drei punkte.
The fourth one will get ... well you get it by now :).

In the end, the five highest scoring civs win and go to the grand finale in Ginger Ale's and RengentMan's PM box. In case of a tie, dice will be cast to break it - or perhaps someone will be bribed ;).

Ladies and gentlemen / mesdames et messieurs / meine damen und herren - your votes please!

I like this idea.

hmm...

Sumeria
Korea
Ottoman
Maya
France

Scientific, agri, industrious, commercial - no exp, sea, militaristic or religious. Greece and Iroquois were in the last one, Persia is inferior to Ottomans, so that is every combination of those 4 traits.

  1. Korea
  2. Greece
  3. Ottomans
  4. France
  5. Sumeria

EDIT: Spoilered to prevent contamination of the electorate :)
Spoiler :
So far, the tally stand thus:

Korea: 5, 4, 3, 5, 2 = 19

France: 4, 1, 5, 2, 4 = 16

Ottomans: 3, 3, 4, 3, 3 = 16

Sumeria: 2, 5, 2, 1, 5 = 15

Maya: 1, 2, 1 = 4

Greeks: 4 = 4

Dutch: 1 = 1

EDIT: Spoilered to prevent contamination of the electorate :)
Spoiler :
Korea: 5, 4, 3, 5, 2, 3 = 22

Ottomans: 3, 3, 4, 3, 3, 4 = 20

France: 4, 1, 5, 2, 4, 2 = 18

Sumeria: 2, 5, 2, 1, 5, 1 = 16

Greeks: 4, 5 = 9

Maya: 1, 2, 1 = 4

Dutch: 1 = 1

Umm, PG, I think posting half-way results is a particularly bad idea... :p It makes it far too easy to manipulate the results if you vote later.

Not that I think anyone would play foul, but I think it's hard not to consider the effects of one's vote if you've seen the results so far. Of course you could sum it up yourself if you wanted to, but I think the threshold then would be higher.

... and you could edit out your previous posts, or at least put spoiler tags around them, with flashy warnings telling the reader to vote before reading. ;)

Good morning Tel Aviv. Here are the votes of the German jury:

Sumeria 5 points
Maya 4 points
Korea 3 points
Ottomans 2 points and finally
France 1 point

[wait for applause]

I miss the twelve points (like Germany always does...) :( :D

Only General_W left?

 Why is Israel in Eurovision
Because the Israel national broadcasting association needs someone to cooperate with, and they are boycotted by their middle-east neighbors. Note that it's the Eurovision Song Contest (i.e. the united TV companies of Europe plus some), not European. ;)

Farout :wow:

We've been asking that question numerous times (usually after numerous beers when watching at the pub) and we have never been able to find the answer and just continue to enjoy the excruciating badness of the whole spectacle

btw ... Is it just the UK version which has the dry and witty commentary by that soccer guy? Without him it wouldn't have nearly as much appeal as it does.
