Iros on pangaea, middle ages, deity, trying to catch up. War with the distant empires of Spain and Germany, it's rather cold for me. For some other civs, it's not. Demo is quite hip yet, analysts expect another trend soon.

Germans on Emperor, close neighbors England, Japan, and (what's left of, muahahahaha) Russia. Still in the Ancient Age, but it's drawing to a close, I got the GL of course.

Just started a game with the English...could you guys give me some advice about playing as england???!

Money!

I never played England very much until Conquests came out, but now they rock..

Play to your strengths, and your main strength is cash. pave every square around every city (preferably all along the coast) and focus on population rather than production and you should soon be rolling in so much money that you can virtually buy your way to victory, no matter which route you're pursuing. Also ~ change to Republic as soon as possible and then Democracy, don't bother with any other government, even during war, because war weariness won't matter when you can just pay off the malcontents with the luxury slider.

Ottomans on monarch, standard size, archipelagos. I have already contacted the other civs, and I also succeeded in building GL. I shared my island with the Portuguese which I just polished of - Henry was all the time drooling over my harem and I simply had to teach him a jolly good lesson. Right now I am in the middle age, and just researching Chivalry. My next steps will be to beeline to Military Tradition, get a nice bunch of Sipahis, ship them over to the neighbour island and then there is doomsday for my "dear" Korean neighbours. Then it should be a mere formality to give the Zulus and the Incas their just desserts.
HamaticBabylon: Elgalad offers very good advice.My experiences are the same; England is an economical powerhouse, even I can make money when playing them.There is also an excellent review by Zardnaar on the ind civ sticky, but I suppose you already read it!?. I can't stand old Bessie neither here nor in real history but England is a really cool civ to play with! Have fun!

Iroquois on Emperor level, Archepalego 80% water, modern ages. This has been one of the most fun games I've played. I'm leading on score, but on my all-time hall of fame scores, it comes in so far, at a measley 8th place; quite frustrating when you feel strategy wise its been one of my best played games. Going for 20K culture victory which I've never achieved before, and I've calculated a victory in 2033, unless of course I haven't accidentally on purpose dominated the world by then.

First game on emperor-level as the Vikings, just entered the middle ages. WAY HARDER than my usual games at monarch!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am playing Russia. I have been going at the game trying to maintain a non-democratic style of government. I went from Monarchy, Feudalism, and now Communism.

Right now I am the world's super power and just discovered Combustion. My closest tech Rival is America and China, who have good amouns of land and resources. True to the Communist doctrine, I have established satelite states from which I can launch attacks. In the next couple of turns I hope to help my neighbor Germany take over France. I will then help Gernamy and Japan become mini-superpowers. Japan is off the coast of China, and would be a good ally to have if ever I were at war again with China.

I am about to disconer flight in the next few turns and be able to unit my empire better with Airports. I love the Modern Era!

Currently, my first game of TETurkan's Map and Mod (no cities) as the Japanese on Regent. I control all of Japan (obviously), North & South Korea, all of China, a few cities along the coast farther south and Phillipenes, and colonies here and there around Europe.

My last game was as the Celts on Monarch.
