Who else is sick of AI's unreasonable trade requests?

i´m getting to like the Egyptians after all...

Hurricane, I don't know what's up with the AI ganging up on you, but one thing I know is that Diety was TOO easy in 1.16f... I never played, I suck, but a lot of people on this board were regularly beating Diety. That makes me think it wasn't really that challenging. Granted the tech trading is a bit out of hand, but still...

Also, having 1000 gold + 200gpt is NOT the same as having 5000 gold all at once. The AI values gpt from the player fairly low compared to lump sum because they don't have to enter a long-term agreement. I've seen times I've had to spend 20-30gpt for something that's barely worth 200 gold! I don't know the exact conversion rate offhand (does anybody?), but gpt is worth at BEST, 50% of lump sum gold. And I'm pretty sure I've seen it as low as 25%.

Deity was easy with 1.16 - if you porushed and densebuilt like crazy. but try it without that and it was tough as hell.....

Right on the spot there. I did naively think that the AI would just discount gpt using perhaps 5% or 10% interest (like they seem to do when trading with other AI civs), but that´s definitely not the case when trading with the human. I think the main point here is that the AI simply refuses gpt deals because it´s so easy to screw them by just breaking the treaty the same turn.

And yes, I still beat diety, but that´s not the point. The point is that Firaxis has done everything to hinder cheaters from taking advantage of the AI with the result that the game has lost much of its diversity. You just put the science at 0%, cranck out the units and take over the other civs one by one.
