I usually stay in Republic exactly to be able to fight longer wars if needed. With a REL civ I might rethink that. But the Democracy WW is awful.
 
Oh I don't know, I've done pretty well in the past with demo wars. First, don't be too agressive. I don't think free citizens like having their troops in enemy territory during an IBT, so it's best to just defend, only taking maybe some important border cities. Second, keep losses minimal, which means use every arty shot we have. Finally, I've found it useful to not defend core cities -- often, an ai will send troops off toward an undefended or lightly defended city outside their reach instead of attacking cities at the front. This leaves stacks of enemy troops in our territory, which we can easily pick off with few losses. We might have prevented the loss of Groningen and Haarlem this way, although it's tricky since Span and France have RoPs with us, and empty cities are invitations to sneak attack...

Welp, that's it.

The Battlefield Medicine in Delhi is a prebuild for SETI. We get computers in 2, and we'll want science labs asap.

There's 7 turns left in our MA's, and the Russians will talk. Make peace immediately. I didn't attack to keep WW down, it's up to 50% in Delhi, but we're handling that just fine with 20% lux. The Russians keep sending cossacks around Evora, going after those Russian slaves I have fortified just NE of there. Just keep defending, and keep fishing for a leader, and if we get one, rush stuff in Warwick. We won't need an army. I had really bad luck, got only one leader and one promote with all the victories I had...

I forgot, we'll want to rush an airport in our island colonies in case we need to airlift.

There's a settler just n of Warwick, that's what's left of Pune. Rush the aqueduct in Warwick, then merge the settler. We have many workers that we can merge into Warwick, once it can handle the happiness.

I never build science labs if I get a good chance on the Internet.

I'd like to get those luxies from the Russians. Stay on defense for 6 turns and take these cities at turn 7 when our alliances expire. Make peace immediatly.

Good turns Mach, we don't really need to push too far with Russia. The 3 cities that someone mentionned above (2 lux and IW) where the most to get.
Do the other ladies respect their MA engagements? They should normally take care of the Cossacks in our lands, depending on the playing order.
From this moment on, every win is doable, even cultural with some effort.
 
I think we'll definitely want labs, at least in our core. We'll get internet too, but we have a lot of techs left to research, and the labs will bring us another 100bpt at least. Definitely a lab in Delhi.

The MA's are still alive, but I actually didn't see much of the Spanish and French. I think most of their fighting is happening in France and Old Germany. Not that I minded -- those cossacks aren't attacking our cities, they're chasing our exposed workers, so I was able to pick them off with elites and fish for leaders.
 
As a sidenote, I'd like to have this team together for another game after this, be it set up by whoknows or any other team member. I have a weird idea for another game, but I also wanted to drop my sg number to 3. 4 sgs need too much commitment for summertime.
 
I'd love to do it too, Lullaby. Actually I have some Ideas too, but am actually in 6-7 SG and really want to limit this. It's too committing.
 
I'm up for it. I'm in 5 right now, which is almost a turnset per weeknight, too much for me. So I'm gonna cut down too, but I can stick with this crowd. :)

I see what you mean Mach, but my problem is the SG RNG too. Somehow when I'm up in a game, there are at least 3 SG that I'm up in simultanously. So the principle of a Game Per Day doesn't work, it's all or nothing. That's irritating...

1) 1405: Bombay bomber-->coliseum. Karachi arty-->tank. Kolhapur bomber-->coliseum. Bengal bomber-->coliseum. Ganges airport-->market. A pair of cossacks bypass Evora to try to take slaves. Bwahahahaha cossacks, meet my tanks! Tank goes leet killing them. Pollution crew cleans up outside Lahore. Forgot how fast Demo workers are.

2) 1410: Learn computers, start mini. Delhi switched to SETI. Madras bomber-->coliseum. Bangalore bomber-->coliseum. Holwerd court-->battleship. Build Agra, start temple. The Krasnoyarsk campaign is a smashing success. Artillery redline, bombers finish, only one redlined infantry to mop up for a leet tank. Upgrade infantry to mechs.

3) 1415: Amsterdam court-->factory. Jaipur police-->bomber. Hyderabad police-->bomber. Resistance in Krasnoyarsk ends. Newcastle police-->bank. Dacca airport-->arty.

4) 1420: Lisbon police-->factory. Bombay police-->Red Cross. Calcutta hospital-->tank. Sagres police-->exchange. Lahore tank-->battleship. Karachi starts bomber. Kolhapur police-->mech. Russians send 4 cossacks outside Newcastle and land 2 cossacks plus a guerilla outside New Delhi. Bombers take out the New Delhi invaders. Holwerd switched to transport.

7) 1435: Madras bomber-->mech. Calcutta starts tank. Karachi bomber-->airport. Warwick aqua-->market. Newcastle bank-->exchange. Dacca arty-->fighter. (Do some recon) Indus police-->cathedral. We take Orenburg. We end the alliances and ROP w/France and Spain. Make treaty with Russia, getting Novosibirsk, Magadan, Asturias, Cherbourg, and Hannover + 35. We probably coulda kept the war going if we wanted, but now we should have shiny happy people.

8) 1440: Spain makes peace w/Russia. Russian cossacks wander thru our lands. Oporto police-->uni. Bangalore mech-->tank. Sagres exchange-->cathedral. Kolhapur bomber-->bomber. Hyderabad arty-->bomber. Bengal tank-->tank. Punjab tank-->mech. Give the cossacks the boot--looks like Cathy's had enough. Rush temple in Magadan. I put a screen up between Yekaterinburg and Evora, as I think Cathy is definitely up to something.

9) 1445: Cathy won't take the hint. She doesn't grab workers when she had the chance, so WHAT is she up to? Arnhem market-->bank. Jaipur battleship-->settler. Magadan temple--> harbor. Dacca fighter-->colosseum. This time I surround the cossack in no-man's land. After kicking them out, they'll all go to that point where the only way out is thru my infantry. Trade Russia atomics for espionage, fur, 1215 + 50/turn. Kohlhapur switches to CIA. Use money to rush temples in our border cities.

10) 1450: These damn Russkies just WON'T take the hint. Delhi SETI-->army. Hague temple -->court. Lagos exchange-->tank. Madras mech-->arty. Bangalore tank-->mech. Calcutta tank-->colosseum. Sagres cathedral-->tank. Yekaterinburg temple-->market. Coventry temple -->harbor. Cherbourg temple-->worker. Evora temple-->market. Hannover temple-->market. Jaipur settler-->battleship. Orenburg temple-->market. Bengal tank-->tank. Asturias temple-->aqua. Novosibirsk temple-->rax. Give Cathy the boot again. I think they're trying to get to their holdings in the east. just read the preceding turns again--sorry about messing up the settler. I've build up a wall of tanks and mechs to keep Cathy out. We'll get Mini in 2, switch either Battle Med or Army to Internet. That's why I haven't built any labs.
How do we want to end this game? Space, or UN? We have the mightiest military, so we are well prepared. During the war with Russia, I never had to go above 20% lux. Thanks to the team for getting the infrastructure up to be able to support the military. That's my biggest problem in my GotMs.

p.s. Wouldn't mind getting into another SG with the same or similar team after this one.
 
Looks superb. :) I would have built those labs; we have a bunch of cities that can build 4-turn ones, so we could have a whole bunch by now. And if we build the Internet in Delhi, we're 13 turns away. Coulda sold the labs we built then.

But it doesn't matter, the game is in the bag. I vote space, just because it seems to be the purest win to me. But there's little doubt we'd win by diplo as well, I think.

I'd like to see our Iron Works city get strong, just for fun. Easy enough to rush stuff and merge workers.

I see it, but will take it tonight in case Who manages to deal with the mean viruses (I'm having the same problem with some spywares, I fully understand him. Still, I'm not entirely blocked). Or if percy shows up.
 
I do allready, but there is a trojan that passed around and is constantly popping pub windows; it is really irritating...
EDIT: Just spent more than 4 hours for 10 turns in Bulgaria1. Will play this one tomorrow, I'm tired.
 
...and then there's SpySweeper, and SpyBot Search and Destroy. Then after that there's HijackThis, but that should be used very delicately...

Fear not, Khan, the turns in this game will be relaxing, and they certainly won't take 4 hours. G'night.
