Who'll publish Civilization IV?

I'm curious what the majority think...

And before anybody asks, I included Atari because there is always the slightest chance that this is a poorly conceived publicity stunt or a means in which to offload Civilization, before they go bust, and then pick it up again from a side company possibly named "Atawi".

(Trip voted Other, he's convinced he bought Civ).

Well, remember, I think Warpstorm (?) said that Firaxis is happy with the purchase, so you never know still.
I don't think they would be happy if they knew that the fans wouldn't.

If EA publishes, I will not buy cIV for a long time, not after watching them take down Westwood and the Command and Conquer Series.

You're asking who will publish CIV... Firaxis is not a publisher, there's no chance of them publishing it. You mean to ask who bought the Civ franchise (and not CIV).

I think people understood the general gist of what I was trying to say. But thank you for pointing out one of my many failings.

But, if Firaxis did buy ownership, who is to say they wouldn't publish it themselves?

Because they're not a publisher. Publishing games and developing them are two very different enterprises. Publishing requires factories to print CDs and manuals and connections with media outlets to get commercials and magazine ads and all sorts of stuff. It requires very different personell and resources compared with what Firaxis has.

I'm hoping Firaxis publish's it, though I'm betting it's EA or Ubisoft. Possibly even microsoft, but I find that unlikely.

Trip: If Firaxis could afford to buy the franchise, there is no telling what they are capable of.

And who cares. People understood the poll. Take your inside knowledge/ownership of the franchise somewhere else, and fix some Conquests bugs while you're at it!
