why a civ can't be cool with a superpower?

Puppet states are also Chummy with the Super power.

If you want to be a super power your "friends" will be

1. City States
2. Puppet States

Nations that are part of NATO/ were part of the Warsaw Pact are basically Puppet/City States. (in CivV terms The USSR and The US didn't liberate Anything in WW2 but City States)

Most of my games split into two distinct diplomatic groups.

Haves.
Have nots.

All the "Haves" tend to really like other "Haves".
All the "Have nots" tend to not.

And to be honest, I think it's solely based on DoF chains, still.
"Haves" are not likely to sign DoFs with "have nots" - there's nothing in it for them. Which leaves the "have nots" to sign DoFs with each other.
But "Have nots" are also petty, jealous, whiny little <snip>. Who are jealous of the big, bad meanies around them.
So they denounce.
And then they go to their friends, and say "Superpowers... am I right???" And because they're friends, they have to be all "I KNOW, Right?"
So what most games devolve to is me and a couple other super powers being buddy buddy, and 3 minutes between each turn with the rest of the world yakking about how much they'd love to come kick the crap out of us, if only they could...

or we can say, US did liberate some nations, but they have another warmonger to hate.

I think it's good and makes sense smaller nations are weary of super powers. I'd wish smaller countries would use DoF and defensive pacts more to try and form a block to protect and help each other against larger nations. Also the ''alliance'' should be implemented to allow this even more. And yes, this happens in the real world, even if smaller nations are not hostile towards the super powers (European Union for example).

NOT liberated civs.

You guys draw parallels to real-life, how about Poland and Poniatowski in the Napoleonic Wars? Loyal to the death.

My situation, roughly same time frame even (bad guys had riflemen, USA minutemen, I had artillery by then), USA surrounded by Japan on one side and Iroquois on the other, got completely deleted.

I brought them back to life, few turns later, they denounce me - while still at war with Japan and Iroquois.

just... wrong.

I do agree with "Liberated civs" should be acting with another AI... basically they should be permanently friendly, acting like an allied City state (they won't give you anything, but will trade favorably with you.... unless you own any of their original cities)

This.

I recently had a game going where I was bordered by Egypt on my East and Arabia on the Northeast. The continent basically made a large "~" and China was on Arabia's Northeast. Arabia had been decimated by the Chinese, were down to one city and generally were not doing well. At one point, all my cities demanded Whales, and as far as I could tell, Arabia was the only source, so I made a very generous that would have gone a long way toward getting Arabia back on its feet. Darius flat out refused to give up his whales. So, I stormed in and took them.

It was clear that if I hadn't wiped out Arabia, China would have. In the face of that, I can't help but wonder what Arabia was doing clinging to their whales like that. I had no military presence near him until he started acting like a cheap jerk. And despite being friends with Egypt (who I've been poking in the eye all game), neither Egypt nor Arabia banded together to protect themselves from the common threats of me and China. Made no sense.

Isn't the AI very keen to help other superpowers in wars and diplomacy against you?

Or is it just that it so incredibly easy to win that I become the only power in the world by beating everybody else on the battlefield after I tire of them chain denouncing me for having too much culture...?
