build the trading co so that all improvement costing 1 gold become free
Also avoid building market places and banks until it is profitable to do so, have a look at how much gold the city is bringing in first.

You are aware of upkeep costs, no? Every improvement costs at least 1g to maintiain, some up to 4g each turn. Too many improvements cost a bundle.
The advice in the two posts above mine are sound. Trade! Trade! Trade! Tribute is a wonderful source of income, too.

For Capitalization, once you build it all the shield production in the city turns into coins (trade), therefore you don't produce anything anymore in the city and produces trade instead. Good for a big city when theres nothing else to build. Helps trade a lot :santa:
