Why are people so insulting of Music genres they dont enjoy?

I don't even try to defend hip hop music. I like it, and that's good enough for me. If you do then it's all good, we can discuss lyrics and all that. If you don't, then that's cool too. Don't be all "OMGITSUXXWTFROXXOR" it's getting old. Seeing as most forum posters hate hip hop, the popular opinion is that rap sucks.

Then again it's getting hard to defend it's lyrics. It is getting out of hand, with the whole gangsta rap outta control. Don't get me wrong though, I like DMX, because of the raw energy he brings to his lyrics. That doesn't mean I'm gonna go kill someone and sell drugs. It's just an expression of a certain mood.

It doesnt matter who theyre telling to cut, its still not clean lyrics. Actually, cutting was just a generalization, oops. Either way, they still dont keep it clean and theyre so depressing.

The 'this music is so depressing' thing makes me laugh. People who say that really have no understanding of the goth/metal lifestyle(s).
 
People react differently to music. Personally, if I'm sad, then I want to listen to sad music, and not happy music. And, after listen to sad music for a while I feel better.
