why cant i uninstall?

I have tryed to uninstall civIV, I had beyond the sword too, and i uninstalled beyond the sword first and then when i tryed to uninstall civ IV this message comes up...


An error (-5004 : 0x80041f42) has occurred while running the setup.
Then i click detail and this comes up...

are you trying to remove the game or to reinstall (there would be different things to in each case)?

Firaxis technical support said to

Open My Computer then open the Local Disk (C), Open the program files folder.
Click on the tools menu then choose flder options, then Click on the view tab and click the box labelled "show hidden files and folders". Press oK
Open the instalshield installation information folder
Search for a folder named {CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3BF-D6E01F4112E8}
Right click on the folder and choose rename. Press the End key on the keyboard and type the word OLD. Press the enter key
Insert the Civilization IV install CD and open My Computer. Right click on the CD drive and choose explore,
Locate the setup.exe file and double click.
and then the game startd to install and everythings fine now

well that is a good reinstall guide - it does not uninstall the game for you though
if that is what you want you either need to remove all including the hidden files and edit the registry yourself or use a registry cleaner...

however reinstalling might help you uninstall it using the normal uninstall routine...

ya i wanted to uninstall then reinstall bcuz i wanted to put a different game on. But now it will actually let me uninstall it, sooo thnx for the time man!!
