Why is everyone trying to kill me?

Hi,

So I'm running a clan, prince level, huge erebus-continent map. I was peacefully expanding till I got ratidine (sp? - sounds like a acid reflux drug lol), and then starting killing the nearby civ (the one that makes horses off the bat). As I'm about to finish their last city, 5 other civs declare war on me? What's up with that? One of them, Falamar was pleased status with me! I have to mention that I did not join in their war against one other civ after repeated requests. Was this the reason? I wasn't too high on power charts either. Also, I became neutral after getting that dwarven religion and all 5 of the other civs attacking me were neutral too.

I'm handling them all fine, but I was just wondering what triggered it so I can avoid it next game.

It was probably the overcouncil or undercouncil declaring war on you. If you're at war with one of them they can pass a resolution to all declare war.

o, I think I remember seeing that built/researched a while back. Is there a way to check who is in it? And why wasn't I invited?!!?

You need the Honor tech and good or neutral alignment to join the overcouncil. For the undercouncil you need the Deception tech and neutral or evil alignment. They both appear as civic options in the last column.
