Why must the Council be so Negative?

It annoys me that your so called helpers and ministers always are so negative, especially the trade-lady. She complains about getting more luxuries and resources even if you have them all.

And then it's the millitary and cultural who says "We should build" blah blah blah when you already are doing it or have plenty units or culture.

It's demotivating even when it comes from an AI

I miss the videos from civ2 - they were negative, but at least they were funny as hell! BUILD CITY WALLS! You're Einstein sir, I mean, you are the to the MC squared like a double clockspeed mircochip sir! We're #1 in sciiiience!

the better question is, what should they be saying? :)

but I agree it was annoying at first, I only listen to the trade advisor to find out what resources/luxs a civ may want or needs, the military adv. is pretty useless. only one I use consistantly is the foreign advisor as he tells you everything (within reason) about an AI.

Yeah, why they shouldn't instead of mocking human tell some good advices like "build more roads, sir" "Don't you know, sir. If you ain't got roads you ain't got money, 'cos money rules, sir"

Elvis from CivII was cool. People loves you, king. So I'm not sure was he talking to himself. And drunken military advisor! :D

I don't pay attention to them anymore, except for my MA. It was frustrating when I was a n00b - their advice were not exactly helpful.

You can change what the advisors tell you. All the text files are there in your Civ3 directory. You can make them as witty or as arrogant as you want.

And why do you never see more than two expressions on the Science guy (never surprised or angry). The cultural and trade ladies are also never angry as far as I know

Their sad and disappointing faces says to me "You have failed as a leader and as a human"

The funniest thing I ever heard on Civ 2 was Mil: "While the men of learning play with their quill pens, sire, the city defences stay as thin as parchment. Build City Walls!" Trade: "Would that we could wall up your gaping mouth, platehead"

Apart from being more or less wildy off-topic, I thought it needed mentioning
