? title says it all... the alpha centauri front end i feel would work rather well, and for the space battles - again the map method in this game would be well suited for space battles - just an idea, seems every time a game in the star trek universe comes out its a complete mess - birth of the federation comes to mind.

agree or disagree?

cheers.

I've never been able to get it to download.

If I may modestly suggest, Sexy, check out my custom factions page:
http://alphacentauri2.info/My Custom Factions/Custom Factions.htm

-I've customized/made over both Kirk and Picard Federation factions, both with new, more appropriate not-Believer bases, and two flavors of Borg, both with new, more appropriate not-Hive bases.

-They're all modified from factions posted on the net, or used to be. The text files aren't my area, and I can claim no credit or blame for them, but the graphics are largely my work.

-Also a boatload of other custom factions made over by me, and a number of original faction graphics. Please, enjoy.

looks good dude, especially the cannabis league - made me chuckle infact. Ill have a look at them all, ill probably steal the kirk mod, since im a kirk fan, cannabis man looks a giggle too nice work.

Oh. My. God.

A comment about my hard work within 3 hours of posting. It took me two-and a half days and five or six posts to get anyone to acknowledge my existence at all at ‘poly.

And a sense of humor, too. Sexy, do you know how sexy you are to me right now? You’re probably a dude, but I could totally kiss you…

If you like humorous stuff, I’ve hidden jokes in the hover-text for almost every picture on the page.

Yeah, the Cannabis League cracks me up, too, but I can only take credit for part of the art. It was the second downloaded faction I gave a makeover- and not the quality of work I can do now, but nothing I’m embarrassed of, either. Did you look at the bases? They were just Gaian, so I customized them a little— the hippies turned them into giant bongs!

It isn’t stealing to download factions I posted for downloading, BTW. I want you to play them there factions and tell me what you think.

This forum loads way, WAY too slow, but I love not feeling like I’m just taking up space….

Dude sorry to disapoint, im a dude - or should that be a womenising toerag? dunno but sounds just as good. Anyway yes its a nice site, shame smac isnt very adaptive with the colour palette. I mean the colours that the factions use are not very decernable on the map - the green party is easy and most of the others but i would say 50/50 if you take into consideration the original factions plus the smac ones.

cheers.

as for your forum, perhaps alittle tweak in the code department is required?

Figured as much. Okay, a kiss, but no tongue, and “don’t go for the reach-around, because The Monarch doesn't swing that way!"

(For those of you who never saw that episode of the Venture Brothers- I swear that that was funny.)

Some of my faction colors aren't so great in the game? Yeah, I cop to that. Working with that 256-color palette is frustrating, and the world map/flag colors are the worst part. Ideally every faction would have a unique color that showed up great, but that's not possible, and I've sometimes erred on the side of unique.

I was just looking at the Hive splinter faction I made graphics for in Darsnan's Eye of the Beholder Scenario, the Protectorate, and man, it needs brightening in flag and text colors, bad.

So you've installed and played some of my factions? Any besides Shaggy and Kirk? Details, please.

-I've been at this non-stop, all my available time, since February, and I'm starving for feedback.

Beg pardon?

beg pardon - forum is slow loading, then i realised it was here you was referring too, doesnt seem slow to be however. Nope have not played any factions, other than the ones that came with the game. im tempted to try civ4, but somehow i think it will be pritty crap to me anyway.

When you do try some factions out, please be sure to get back to me.

Civ 4 is pretty neat, though it doesn't get along with my machine. I played it for three weeks straight on my sister's set-up during a long visit three years ago, only recently got it to install on mine at all, and haven't actually played it anymore. On a more muscular computer, I liked it less than AC, but enjoyed it a lot.

ill be honest, i find only this game at all interesting now - i could get stuff very easily, but games these days are more graphic driven as apposed to solid gameplay. I will wager any serious gamer would agree. Yes ill give your incarnations a looksy, in between kissing other guys - without tongues of course ....

I couldn't pass for a serious gamer, and I agree; AC is so special for the quality of the writing, the thought put into it, and the solid gameplay. Otherwise, it's buggy, and the graphics are so primitive that a guy like me who can't draw can make good enough alterations largely in MS Paint.

I miss the old D&D games like Curse of the Azure Bonds. They barely even had graphics, but god were they fun to play! I've never been able to get into the "more advanced" stuff that's come out for the last 20 years...

talking of d&d - i play baldurs gate 1 and 2 with the baal expansion alot, and also icewind dale and the heart of winter addon - im wondering if you have these? if you did we could, and this is in no way a gay relationship starter, play the games together online, since these games are alittle old, noone plays them online anymore which is a shame really i find playing alone slightly cumbersome since spell casting really is a distance weapon and while your concocting a spell in the midst of a fight with ghouls, or whatever monster is fighting your party if the monsters get a hit in early the spell casting has to be restarted - most annoying indeed - as for the older d&d stuff yeah use to like the buck rogers games - if you can remember those, beleive they where published by the same company that did the bonds. - and not forgetting the bards tale series, and that all time classic "dungeon master" that was a 3d dungeon romp - execellent game especially the mummys that use to come at you from the dark areas. - they really dont make games like those anymore, big shame.

No, my heterosexulal man-crush, stuff like Baldur's Gate and Icewind are what I had in mind that I couldn't get into- not old-school enough for me. I liked the games that were actually like playing D&D- without the cumbersome elements like math, dice, and arranging for human beings with whom to play.

we could, and this is in no way a gay relationship starter

:trophy::trophy3rd:,
If you'd start capitalizing, I'd almost be willing to move to Vermont. (Sorry about that- I'm an awful grammar nazi.)

Buck Rogers I played through two or three times. That's another great example example of crappy graphics but splendid gameplay.

That was some hardcore stuff

I was born in 1982, so I'm feeling more comfortable with stuff like Archon, Betrayal At Krondor or Wizardry than Stellar Track.

@Buster's Uncle
hickorychessclub? It's been about 5 years since I've played last time - acquiring new PC took me through all sorts of HoMM's, Fallouts or other Civilizations, so didn't really get back to chess.

Anyway, thanks for the races, when I'll get bored with the Crossfire's ones I'll definitely check them out ;)

Yeah. I'm the club secretary/info-central guy, and I’m abusing my position as webmaster to host the custom factions page. I’m also one of the sorrier chess players in the club. If anyone’s all that curious about me, check out the root directory. Please don’t rat me out to my RL friends, though…

Check. Any preliminary opinions from glancing at the page?

:confused:What's wrong with BotF? But anyway, you might want to try out Star Trek mod, available from these very forums for BtS 3.17.;)

I've got it on Vista and it works fine! There's a wealth of information and support on BotF at this site.
Don't give up! It's really not a bad game.
