Hello guys!

I have a quick question. I was trying to understand where exactly does a city gets commerce from, and where it goes. I came across something that didn't make sense, could someone please explain?

In that image, it shows that the capital's center square is making 6 GPT, while the other city under the same circumstances makes only 5. I understand they make gold from:

  • [1]Seafaring, coastal city
    [1]Adjacent to a river
    [2]City size
    [1]Republic bonus

So that makes 5. Where does the extra gold to the capital comes from? I don't think that's just because it is the capital, since I did another test with France and the capital gets the same as other cities in simmilar circumstances.

Also, how much exactly does the commerce bonus to cities and metros to commercial civs add?

You forgot the [1] that's just the regular commerce all cities get.

As a standard all cities get 2 food, 1 shield and 1 commerce.

That's what I meant by city size. A town gets the standard 1 gpt, but once it grows to city, it gets 2.

I see. Perhaps Seafaring civs get an extra commcerce when the city grows and it's coastal?

No golden age, and seafaring was already being taken into account. BTW all settlements receive the seafaring bonus, regardless of population.
I did some more tests and the first city always got an extra commerce. Not the capital, because although I moved the palace to another city, the bonus to the first city remained. I must have been misled in my test with France, since the location was tricky, being at the end of the river so maybe it didn't get the commerce bonus. So that must be it, the first city gets an extra commerce. Can anyone check their games to confirm?
