Why some of Hall Of Fame games are cheated?????

Yeah, it's not so easy to understand what you're talking about.

I don't think they've cheated, just a bunch of saves to play a near-perfect game. It only took me 1 and a half weeks(real time about an hour each day) to reach 514% on Prince. I could do much better but I don't have the patience.

OK I'll try to explain my idea(?!). If you look on the HoF on this site you can see a games about 10k points. And if you will download the save you can see a briliant game. It's true, isn't it??? But... if yo will check some of cites you can see that some of them have -8 food, no caravans with food (in/out) and city is about 30-36 people. And the best thing is that if you will chec the cheat menu it's enabled, but it isn't mentioned in F9 menu (i don't renember it's name

) and later in HoF.

Sorry for my spelling but it's very late here for me. CU

PS: After that you may tell me to try play my best game. Already I've done it and I've sended it but it isn't published yet in HoF. I wonder why (it's not cheated)

I understand perfectly what you are saying.
I'm sure the Moderators understand now, too.

I'm also sure they'll look.

It's In The Way That You Use It

negative food situations are normal.Often food routes will not replace a trade route.Why?..good question. There are several factors involved.Where is Xin Yu when you need him.

There are a couple of powergraphs that look "odd"

Cheat menu on/off is just a matter of hex editing. There is one position that needs to be changed to get rid of the cheat flag.

There might be "funny stuff" in every one of the HoF games. Then again maybe not.The game reacts funny when limits are surpassed. One thing that is not shady is amount of painstaking, tedious, boring work that is required to achieve even 10,000 points.

Don't forget that using food caravan tactics is totally legitimate. Here's how it works:

Everytime you use a food caravan, that automatically brings the target city up to full food capacity thusly raising population quickly. In the endgame phase drawing food away form large cities is a tactic to insure a high score. It creates more citizens and if you plan it right, you won't lose any citizens either because negative food will just suck up stored food.

Thx for explaining food aspect (BlueMonday), but about cheat flag now. Why those games are in HoF if they are cheated (even in that way that there isn't cheat flag). I founded second way how to remowe it. This is not connected in any way with editing saves but it is also cheating.

I think all of those games are legitimate and honest EXCEPT one. The one by Tiago. That one's definitely a cheat. The Powergraph doesn't evens start at zero.

About the cheat menu. It's definitely a bug. It happens to me all the time. Sometimes, after I'm finished messing around with scenario editing, the cheat menu stays on until I restart the computer!

I've had that happen a couple of times as well... In some instances I save the game at 4000bc so If its a really good map I can come back to it again... especially if I drastically screw things up... And opne time I saved it before doing anything whatsoever and then re-loaded it later on and the cheat flag was on! So I couldn't use it at all!!

With my game the cheat mode is turned on, but doesn't show it as a cheat game in the score. It really pisses me off that I can't get it to go away.

Anytime I save a gave, no matter what turn, how long I've played it, or anything, when I load it again, cheat mode is toggled. When I move the games around between computers (I played at work a bit
biggrin.gif
) the cheat mode was then turned off. I've even tried uninstalling my game, and reinstalling it, but it is always there.

Does anybody have a way to fix this? Maybe I'll go ask in the tech forum too.

Hmmm. Sounds like a big problem you have DoM. Dunno how to fix it, though.

It seems to me like HoF questions are 'in' these days. I've heard a lot of them: and all I can say is that we do not know for sure if someone cheated, but all we can do is trust the people in it on base of what we already know about them. And I can I trust all of the people in the HoF I know.

Tiago's is definitely a cheat. It was in an effort to prove that it was a cheat that I did all that work on the Power Graph. There are other signs in the game that he cheated; and I've since developed a mathmatical proof that he cheated.

Otherwise, it seems that most of the others are legit -- though Shadowdale's Power Graph has one element that should be a cause for concern ...

Duke..you need to do a little more.

I'll work on it again this weekend. I kinda figured it was some .ini file I missed, or something. So I'll try what they suggested.

Thanks.

I too am curious what Andu means....?

On Edit: Here's what I did to get cheat mode to be unchecked. I had to try it twice becuase the first time didn't do it.

I uninstalled the game, and then reinstalled it. The same issue existed, once I reloaded a game, it would be toggled again.

The second attempt I did a bit more like was suggested. I uninstalled the game, self deleted everything that was not a saved game (even a video folder that existed), then restarted the computer. I then reinstalled the game and it works! Even after intentionally turning cheat mode on and then reloading it was off again.

I'm not sure if it was deleting all the left over files that did it, or the restart in between, but I'm good to go for now.

Thanks Smash and the guys who helped at Apolyton.
