The advantage of commmunism is that you can have a wide spread empire with some distance between your cities, since corruption is equal and not affected by the distance to your capital. But a clue is to connect all your cities to a good railroad-system, so that in case of war you might centralize your military strenght in one specific area in no time...

There is no advantage to communism. Yes you can make it less bad, but it's easier to switch governments.

Personally I'd never use Communism. Even for war, I'd stick with democracy or republic. Or monarchy at worse.

Communism is nearly as bad as despotism. In fact, it's often worse.

communism has only worked for me once and that was when I owned a huge empire I had Europe Asia North and Central Africa Greenland & North America so I had such an empire that its values were perfect for me. And i was at war a lot so it was easier that way.

If I can drive the AI into communism I regard the game as won. Its that bad - and the AI then whips itself to death. Not a nice way to go - unless you like that kind of thing.

I have never gone into communism. If forced from Demo or Republic because of war weariness, I'll pick Monarchy any day.
