Wierd sound problem

I recently put Civ 3 on my laptop and found a really weird problem with the music.

When i start a new game the music plays fine, but when i load a game the music doesn't play at all. I checked the audio preferences menu and it was still set to play. I tried again starting several new games and loading. each time i started a new game it played, after each reload it didn't. I checked the preferences menu every time. All other sounds play fine after reload.

What's going on?

Did you try reinstalling? And are you saving installing to the default locations?

Tried reinstalling.

It not installed in the default directory but that was never a problem on my old PC.

Right, not on mine, either. But it could be for some reason the opened game is trying to look for the default location rather than the installed one. Why, I don't know.

You might want to try the default installation and see how that works.
