I want to buy Civ 5, but I am not 100% sure if my laptop will run it.

I have an IBM T43 ThinkPad with these specs:

Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Hard Drive Capacity: 80 GB
Memory (RAM): 1 GB
Chip Type: Intel Pentium M
Primary Drive: DVD-R, CD-RW Combo
Laptop Size: 14.1 inches
Features: Wireless Network Card, Modem, Operating System, USB, 10/100 LAN Card

Will this run Civ 5 ?

Short answer: No

Long answer: Even newish computers can't run Civ 5 that well, and yours has by far way too little RAM to even make it a turn into the game, I'm afraid. :(

Base on my experience playing Civ5 with my 2 laptops, i would say the only bright thing of your laptop is your processor speed. If u want a laptop that can run well a standard map with a standard speed at a standard quality, i suggest a laptop with at least 4 GB RAM, a HDD of 160 GB and a ATI Radeon 5400 series or an equal GT one. You dont need $1500, $1000-1200 will do just fine.

You can't run it on 1 GB.
I've tried it. Thought I would get away with just more swapping, but just plain didn't run.

I say 160GB HDD is for making sure that u have enough space for other things, not just only Civ5, i may be wrong if you're still using Windows XP. If u put another 1GB RAM, it will not fully solve your problem. One more thing u should bear in mind is that your laptop graphic card is not strong enough for this game so i think its not possible to play Civ5 with your laptop.

Stupid computers. Pfffft'...

It has been the same for me for every Civ version since the beginning.

I was always happy with my computer, but have to buy a new one to play "Civ".

The first time I purchased a PC, it was literally to play Civ II Multiplayer, after playing Civ (1) on the Amiga 500. I even purchased the Amiga 500 exclusively to play Civ.

Civ owes me about $7,000 in computers - not to mention the tens of thousands of dollars I've lost in productivity in the last 17 (give or take) years.

I'm sending Sid Meier a bill. I've had enough of this!

He has absolutely NO consideration for me or my bank account.

He should be locked up or something! He's a menace!

Rrrright, if that's so, also Bill Gates is a menace, he doesn't have consideration too. And Steve Jobs, he's such a guy!, oh and also GabeN... he eats too much.
Oh but also everybody who sells something is a menace, since they're asking money for something, and that's not rrrright, no?

And Sid Meier, despite the name, was not the creator of CivilizationV, he created the series, but he was only a lead programmer (I guess) on Civ5, not more. Who have the responsibility is 2K and EA.

Oh, I almost forgot that we are slaves and we are forced to buy new computers to play ur games, so we don't have power of decision and they make them.

I don't care!

Sid Meier owes me a LOT of money!

I am going to find where he lives, and I am going to bash on his 9 foot high barred gate and yell "Sid", incessantly into the itercom.. "Sid, you owe me money!"...

When he comes out (and he obviously will), I am going to ask him for $1500.

If he DOESN'T give it to me, I am going to throw a bucket of red paint over his car the next time he drives out!

I'll learn'im!
