Will my laptop run this? Please help

don't worry pal, im in the same situation as you (and im sure many others) are.

basically, ive pre-ordered and when i get my hands on Civ IV, ill install it and hope and pray that it at least RUNS

even if its choppy as hell at first, after a bit of tweaking, im sure ill get to a reasonable point of playability.

my only concern is that it fails to intall at all or that it won't run from the get go.

in which case, im waiting to throw down for the Toshiba Qosmio.

I'd worry about the graphics, mainly since AFAIK, mobility radeons do not operate in a shared graphics setup.

I have a Thinkpad T40p, and the ATI FireGL (Basicly a mobility radeon 9000) can not change its video size (i.e., by stealing system memory).

The main use of ram in 3d systems is for textures (putting a picture on your triangles). It may run, but you will get terrible performance if it does, since the textures will be continuously swapped in and out of video ram.

Hmm, interesting. I don't dabble in the notebook world much, or shared memory video cards. So I'd have to plead ignorance here:crazyeye:
