Will Planetfall be ported to civ 5

IIRC, Maniac said he doesn't feel like working on something SMAC-like for a third time (the former two times this mod and his SMANIAC mod for the Alpha Centauri game itself.

I hope someone else does it then! I am not experienced in programing so this is way over my head, but I love Planetfall. I just came up with a way to do the ecology system in Civ 5. ='(

In addition to eventually getting my Civ 5 SMAC skin working, I have been thinking of how to adapt Planetfall to Civ 5 and, more generally, how to improve it.

In Planetfall, I found the ecology system a little annoying. I was thinking that it would be better this time around to create an ecology system that functions as a cross between happiness and gold.

Your citizens and bases(cities) generate pollution which is countered by ecology. Eco points are generated by working fungus tiles. Fungus works like forests so once you clear them you can't get them back. If you have more eco than pollution, then it gets put in the bank like gold. You then spend it to perchance native life units and to have workers upgrade improvements so that they return higher yields.

If you have excess pollution, then it subtracts eco points from the bank. If you run out of eco points, your eco balance becomes negative (aka you start saving pollution points). When the next perihelion occurs, which happened every 80 turns and caused more mind worms in SMAC, the game spends all the pollution points on a native life army that then proceeds to assault your bases.

I've been thinking of some ideas as well (for an Alpha Centauri based mod at least, not a direct followup to Planetfall, though if I do actually get around to doing it it would undoubtedly be influenced by planetfall.)

Mostly it's been about how to use the new social systems, though a few even more vague ideas of how to handle relations with planet, what sorts of bonuses the different factions would get, and such. (Of course, I'm not all that experienced with coding either, at this point it's just fooling around with Fall from Heaven.)

The above idea does seem a neat way to handle pollution.
