PS5 Are the Deluxe/Founders Upgrades only available for Digital Purchases?

I mean, even if it is supposed to possible to upgrade the physical editions but there are issues with it that are being worked on, the fact that support reps don't know this or that Firaxis hasn't made a public announcement about the issue would be incredible on its own. Either way, there are just stunning levels of incompetence going on here.

That might all be the case at the end .
The same issue existed on the Switch (incl. physical edition) but was later resolved https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/upgrade-to-founders-edition-only-available-in-the-us.695444/ . So maybe there is a chance here too?

I mean, I've already gotten rid of my copy of the game so, even if you can theoretically upgrade the game, I can't and wouldn't even want to at this point. This whole situation, from start to whatever finish, has been entirely unacceptable and that's not even getting in all of the issues with the game itself.

Founders upgrade has now disappeared from the store and physical owners never got a chance to pick it up. My game is going back tomorrow. Despicable customer service from 2k support and very questionable trading practices. Absolute ****show and I will not buy from 2k ever again.

Not, its just the regular/deluxe edition of the game that you can buy on a physical disc like many other games. It came out as a physical release for all current gen consoles.

Really doesn't help either that their response was basically "our mistake, your problem." I've worked a bunch of retail jobs and if we were responsible for the customer buying the wrong product we would offer up something as compensation, even if it was entirely inadequate for the problem at hand.

IMHO, this probably did gamers a favour. You can buy the physical deluxe edition now, and I'm sure the two personas will be sold separately someday. The rest of the founders pack is trash. The tile set and palace are probably disabled by most people here, and the DLC will be sold separately.

I wasn't so bothered by customisables. It was more about the personas but like you say they will probably sell them at a later date. In the meantime I can get a full refund from Amazon and have the piece of mind that I haven't been ripped off. What annoys me really is the differing treatment between digital owners and physical. I don't really see any viable reason for it. Completely unnecessary and incompetence to not have it set up correctly. Still money saved.
