When you use the [ code ] thing, it goes into monospace, so everything inside it stays on the line you put it on (no word wrap). It therefore forces your post to expand to the width of the length of the longest [ code ] line.

No, that was something that played a lot earlier, even before CtP1 was made, and it was just about the 'Civilization' name, not about the Call to Power name or the game itself.
