I installed the BUG MOD v2.22 from install.exe to
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\MODS\BUG Mod

I rename the customassets folder within the BUG mod folder to assets

I Load Civ4 BTS. I load the mod
i try to play the mod, but no interface

Note:
If i remove the assets folder the game loads as if it were standard BTS no problem.

There is a BUG Mod.ini.bak file withing the BUG Mod folder that is almost the same as the
BUG Mod.ini folder, but there is an extra line:

; Modular XML Loading
ModularLoading = 0

I don't know how to run cov4 in debug mode so was inable to use the Cvpath.py file mentioned in another path.

Any suggestions?

Two:

Look in the Latest Version thread for directions on how to get the BUG Mod from the SVN... this can be tricky.

OR

Wait a little while until we can put out a full release. We think we have the issue resolve now, but are waiting for some other things to be completed before we put out the next version.

There is an issue we think we have resolved, but for now the solution is to create a registry entry manually. Use regedt32 to add it:

  1. click Start : Run...
  2. type regedt32
  3. click OK
  4. Navigate the tree down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete - Beyond the Sword
  5. Create a new String value (right click, select New : String Value) named INSTALLDIR
  6. Double-click it and enter the directory that contains CIV4BeyondSword.exe (It will likely be "C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword"
  7. Exit
You can see screenshots of this in action in this post along with more details. If you have any trouble or questions with this, I'll try to help. Otherwise as Alerum said, just wait for the release in a couple weeks or grab the latest version from SVN in a couple days.

GoogleBoogey Try this... is a test somewhat, but it should work.

Interface Issues Fix

See the post near the end with the attached file bugmod222b.zip

Navigate the tree down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete - Beyond the Sword
Create a new String value (right click, select New : String Value) named INSTALLDIR
Double-click it and enter the directory that contains CIV4BeyondSword.exe (It will likely be "C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword"
Exit

I followed those steps and voilla! It works.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

by the way alerum68. Its GooglyBoogly, not GoogleBoogey

just saw this post and thought it was about winning a version of Civ4 that had no interface  - silly, I know. Glad the guys were able to provide the answers.

Be sure that the new registry entry string matches the location of the BUG mod INI installation. If you install the MOD in My Docs\My Games, and put the Program Files\2KGames location in the string, you may not be able to exit the Options screen. This is fixed by changing the string to match the My Docs\My Games location.

Works like a charm. Thanks a lot, Bleys. Now it's time for that treat I promised you ... *breaks out a 1-gallon flask of massage oil*

Edit:

Well, the messages and stuff work, but the skins are kind of flickering on and off (it's BAT).

I didnt load BAT, just BUG, so I dont know about those issues.

Glad to see it resolved though, as I said in the other thread, more and more folks are going to be getting Complete, and Complete is a single install with a single INSTALLDIR, not 3 separate ones, and I think thats the underlying problem. These guys know their stuff though, so I bet they get it squared away pretty quickly.

FINALLY!

I have had much frustration with this since I have Complete too!

Thankyou very much for the solution, though I hope the Mod can be updated to cater for this problem one day. thanks again!:)

I'm glad that worked for you. The firx that doesn't require the above instructions is complete (no pun intended) and committed to our SVN repository. You can grab it using the instructions in another thread on this forum (search for TortoiseSVN) or wait until the release in a week or so.
