Windowed Mode and Laptops

I am looking into buying Pirates, but I need to know a couple of things first before actually buying it.

1. Does Pirates support being payed in Windowed Mode (or at least have widescreen support)?

2. I have noticed that there is a use of a keypad during the game. As a Laptop user, there is no seperate independent keypad (I have to hit the Fn key in order to use it and it gets quite a pain), is the game playable with just a mouse?

2 why not get an outboard usb numpad
