Windows 7 and Directx 9

So I just installed Windows 7 and I wanted to add Civ 4. When I try to install it claims that I don't have Directx and tries to install it. I have Directx 11. Any ideas?

Correction, I have DX 11, not 10.

CIV 4 needs Directx 9, Directx 10 and 11 do not have some of the necessary files so you will still have to install Driectx 9.

Pretty sure you need the two highlighted files, as shown in the following screenshot, placed into your System32 folder:

Cannot answer that one, runewood... sorry.

All I can tell you is, under Windows 7 64-bit, I had to copy the following files into my C:\Windows\System32 folder:

• d3dx9_31.dll
• d3dx9_32.dll

Make sure you have a complete backup of your system first, then just go for broke, man!
