Time to discuss if we're going to increase our investment in Great Wonders.

We have Taj Mahal under construction and plan to build Statue of Liberty. What other wonders do we want to get soon? Angkor Wat was selected in Riversight on the last turn as a placeholder, do we want to build it there?

I really like Angor Wat and it will be done in 9 turns (not counting possible Golden Age effects!).

What are the benefits of Angkor Wat? Is it really worth building it? I don't usually build it in my games.

Sorry, just don't have access to civ or the manual now.

Angkor Wat has some decent synergy with Mercantilism/Statue of Liberty.

It gives +1 hammer/priest, making the priest a better engineer.

Then you get Great Prophets more, i would prefer wonder, which gives temple, cloister etc more like Spiral-minarett, it's only this in Vanilla.
In the moment I wish units from the production-cities.

What is the case with the Taj Mahal btw?! I was ordered not to finish it incase that would've been a possibility during my gameplay session. Was this merely because we don't want the Golden Age to be used to discover Democracy?

The idea was to complete the Taj exactly when starting with the Statue of Liberty. Or tech paths have been changed, so this idea might not work anymore.

@Husch: The problem with the Spiral Minaret is that it would require some extra techs (DR+Theology), and it's only useful until we adopt Free Religion, which we probably will do relatively soon.

As I posted in the space victory thread...internet gives alot of added benefit in winning via space. Especially if you are behind in some techs.

I don't see a single reason why we should be behind enough opponents for the internet to work in (important) techs at the end of the game. We shouldn't need the internet.

I actually like Robboo's idea, it seems very clever. I've always assumed the Internet was useless, because I generally emphasize technology in my games, and have a good lead by the time I can build the Internet. But if we rush to Internet as Robboo has suggested, we can then use it's benefits to grab technologies we had bypassed along the way in our beeline to build the Internet. Basically by rushing for the Internet you create the technology deficiencies in certain specialized areas which you need for the Internet to be effective.

Some thoughts on wonders, world and national alike.

Taj Mahal - To be completed in NotA in 1 turn (699/700 hammers, nice :))
Statue of Liberty - To be started in Coppertown directly, will be completed in 22 turns, or sooner thanks to the Golden Age. Can be sped up by a Great Engineer if we get one.
Oxfords University - Can be started in Xanadu after the completion of a university there.
National Epic: Should be started in Berlin as soon as possible.

No, Coppertown is to produce units for the Roman War. We want Rome to go.
Coppertown is, as everyone agreed to, a military city with Heroic Epic.

In that case, I believe Riversight is the second best city to build it.

Sure, keep Coppertown and Munich for military duties.

We have all the other cities for Wonders, commerce, culture, gold and
science.

Best regards,

I suggest to pump out just enough troops for a short Roman War (They are so big, we need to take them in two chunks anyways due to war weariness), then we build West Point.
