Forbidden Palace's bonus is too small to make a difference on the games I play. Hagia Sophia gives you the wonder of you choice after it is built and is therefore technically the best wonder. It also speeds up QP acquisition for good measure.

FP - scaling happiness wonder

We are already at a point, where each wonder is worth to be build, so which one are better than the other

Porcelain Tower : Research is normally no problem for me and while it can be nice sometimes to slingshot for a certain tech, but the effect will normally reduce by the time. The Main source of my research is made by your pops and buildings. Pops and buildings needs time and after 100 turns the original effect in rp worth is quite nothing. Of course some tech have more potential and in some cases you can turn the advantage of having some stuff earlier into real. ( likely Civil Service ).
Having a GS in the ancient is imho far more useful than in the medieval/renaissance ( in the ancient, there are still many basic techs, and the first medieval techs takes many turns more ) . Ra's, even with the effect of porcelain tower aren't that attractive for me, because I rely on my pops and buildings. ( And also, because the world think, that I'm the devil .. maybe I should make a preventive defensive war ).

I see GL far better with a slingshot to civil service and giving a free library and 3 science. ( GL -> top 5 )

@ civnoob,
how much pops do you have, when built, at industrial , at modern ?

Same vote as yesterday, confirmed by having started a new immortal game as Rome with a GL opener and no iron near me at all, but I'm plowing through the map. Having the GL is amazingly strong--better than getting a 6-iron deposit on your doorstep--and the tech boost easily carries you through the Renaissance no prob. In a word, GL is a game-changer.

FP? Meh. Can't do that^.

(+) Hanging Gardens : Great wonder to have in a monarchy capital.

(-) Porcelain Tower : A decent wonder, but everything else on the list I would rather have.

@ Forbidden Palace. It is a small bonus when you first build it, but later in the game when all of your cities have aqueducts then you'll really appreciate having it. It is both the best and worst happiness wonder on the list, depending on the map size / empire size.

Oops, why nobody told be, that I made a mistake yesterday with copying the first 3 wonders twice ....

FP - Scaling Happiness wonder
Opera house - to late to have any influence, even if it become better ( culture bonus and earlier ) it's hardly that useful. Maybe it's better on small maps and having a cultural victory in range as only option to win. It's nice to have and nothing more. ... It also has to stand in a coastal city. Normally the city with the most culture is the capital city, so you have to hope, that your city is at the coast. While Machu Picchu can stand anywhere near a moutain.

What is with the PT hate? It definitely is one of the top wonders here. People should try the power of research agreements in late game. Everything takes so long to research but with enough research partners you will get new techs many times faster. Also free great scientist and great scientist points are nothing to scoff at.

Eiffel tower is not that powerful unless you go for a cultural game. I usually don't have much more than 2 trees filled at the endgame and that is about 11 or 12 happiness from a very expensive wonder.

It's not called the Great Library for nothing. As commented above, The Sydney Opera House comes far too late in the game to make any difference.

@poom

Porcelain Tower isn't worse, but as good as the remaining wonders ? Also with my playstyle I have no problems with too slow research, especially at the late game. The longest research time I do have at the early medieval, but later the research goes rather fast, on epic speed I takes so 8-10 turns for industrial techs and about 5-7 turns for modern techs. I have in my games always a huge population, which are exploding at least in the industrial age.

At the time, when porcelain tower arrives, a slingshot is hardly that useful, than in the ancient with GL to Civil service. An acadamy has too less effect for me in a huge empire at that time .. and finally at industrial/modern age I use GS for GA's ...

Also the effect on Ra's is rather low for me.

It's no PT hate. I could also say you hate Eiffel Tower.
.. playstyle - I have more need on Eiffel Tower than on the porcelain tower for my strategy.

... also, it's hardly ever hate, if someone else has a different opinion ... it's always imho ;)

Remember to give a reason for your votes. (edit) darn I forgot to vote yesterday. Too late now...

I don't think ShahjahanII has changed the running total for HS and PT.

I fixed the totals AND put in my own.

I love the new Notre Dame! It really allows for a lot of extra growth, which is useful for whatever you need it.

Though I like the SoL, I wonder how much effect it really has. I think it doesn't win or lose me the game. I tend to build it anyway though, especially with Freedom policies active :)

FP: Who of you doesn't get 100 unhappiness? 10 cities are 30 base unhappines and another 70 pop and you already have 100 unhappiness -> FP is way better than ND.
SOH is rather late to make a difference.

It's time to realize that SoH is only good for one thing and if you don't go for CV then you can use your hammers to better things.
In my latest game I (finally) got PT and I must say it is far better than its current rank.

Sydney isn't the worst of these wonders. Being able to finish a tree with 100-150 turns left can really help you a lot, especially on higher difficulties.

FP has a truly underwhelming effect. I go with Notre dame.
