Wonder Movie Crashes

Hello,

I got Civ4 for Christmas and the game seems to be working fine for me except for wonder movie crashes. I have browsed this forum and come across two suggestions for the problem. Unfortunately, I am not the most computer literate person in the world and may need some help.

The first suggestion I saw was to turn off the movies by editing the .ini file. I found this file and believe that I modified it correctly (set NoMovies = 1). Then I saved the file. However, the change does not seem to have taken effect and the movies are not turned off. Is there anyone who can walk me through this process step by step in case there is some little bonehead mistake I'm making?

The second suggestion I've read is to update video drivers. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this. Does this involve going to a website and downloading something? Do I need to buy some kind of software? I also get a vague impression from speaking with friends that updating the drivers can cause problems of its own, so I'm not sure if it's really a good idea.

If any of you have the patience to help me out, I really appreciate it :)

Thanks,
Molly

That is the correct procedure, reopen the file after saving and make sure it stuck.

You need to go to the website of your videocard to download the latest drivers. If you don't know what card you have, goto the start menu, click run, type "dxdiag" without the quotes. Click the display tab at the top. On the top left of this window under "device" it will show the name of your videocard. On the top right under "driver" it will show the driver version and date. Go to the website of the videocard (use google search) and see if there is a newer driver version for your card. There should be installation instructions there.

Hope that helps.
