Wonder splashes for Pounder's widescreen

Some of them look very familiar (I have used the same images as source for some in my mod), but I like to see them in widescreen! Nice and very useful work!

Thank you for your kind answers.

I begin theses day to work on the next pack. this pack contain also the lacking remplacements for the original ones (Aphrodite's temple, cancer, apollo project, etc...).
I have already added 15 new wonders (12 frenchs, 3 britains).

@ Wüstenfuchs : I have ideas from a lot of countries, but my knowledge is not universal. Feel free to propose if you known good stuff.

Btw, Zeche Zollverein is in Essen (not Gelsenkirchen). That's where I go to university, as well. I sometimes drive past it.

It also was NOT founded in the Third Reich, but as early as 1847. The winding tower on the picture is from 1930.

Oh don't worry about it, I wasn't trying to actually criticise you. But while I'm at it (and since you do seem to have another set of wonders coming up), I might as well make some suggestions for German wonders.

1. I would love to see a widescreen preview of the Brandenburg Gate. Here are some possible images to use [Berlin]:

1
2
3
4
5 (I would suggest cropping out the cars and people in this shot if you use it)

2. Berlin Fernsehturm (t.v. tower) [Berlin]:

1
2
3
4
5

3. The Berlin Wall [Berlin]:

1
2
3
4
5
6
7

4. Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral) [Cologne]:

1
2
3
4
5
6

5. Deutsche Reichstag (German Parliament) [Berlin]:

1
2
3
4 (this one features the famous saying "DEM DEUTSCHEN VOLK"adorning the top of the entrance)
5
6
7
8

6. Frauenkirche (Lady's Church) [Dresden]:

1
2
3
4
5
6

7. Hamburger Hafen (Hamburg Harbor) [Hamburg]:

1
2
3
4
5
6

Those are just some possible proposals. I'm sure there are quite a few more suggestions that the other Germans on the board could offer. Feel free to use, discard, change, modify, etc. any of the ideas and pictures I posted. Good luck with those!

Oh, i don't think you tried to criticize me. I really asked for suggestions :)

No problem for your suggestions. It's hard to find good pictures that fit because the widescreen format "movie-style" : 570x320 (without count the white board on the bottom). I go for them (i was already on the search for Kölner dom and SHE's really hard to find. Even more than the CN tower in Toronto, who was a pain in my poor ass).

For now, i have done only 19 screens.

First, some from Paris :

arc_de_triomphe_de_l_etoile (Glory culture monument. Need victorious army)
basilique_montmartre (church / church)
beaubourg (library)
grand_palais (museum)
jardins_du_luxembourg (garden)
les_invalides (hospital, museum, cemetary)
musee_d_orsay (museum)
notre_dame_de_paris (cathedral)
opera_garnier (theater)
pere_lachaise (cemetary)
petit_palais (museum)
pont_alexandre_III (bridge)

Some in UK

iron_bridge (bridge)
kew_garden (garden)
london_tower (prison)
westminster palace (palace)

And some in germany, searched after you asked :

Kloster_Maulbronn (monastery)
Museumsinsel (museum cluster)
Rammelsberg (mine complex, museum)
Volklinger_Hutte (look at it's the original "iron work")

Ok. Well, i return in germany, then.

Added your suggestions, Rommel, plus the White house in USA.

Brandenburg gate
Berlin Fernsehturm
The Berlin Wall
Kölner Dom
Deutsche Reichstag
Frauenkirche (used an old paint)
Hamburger Hafen

and

White house (USA).

Just for say i'm returned and work actually on the second pack. Yay, Photoshop on Linux !

Hell yeah, I've actually been eagerly awaiting your return! Glad to see you decided to come back, I would have been a bit discouraged if you had never done so. I anxiously await your next release. :D

PACK 2 !

100 splashes

=================

A replacement for the original Templar wonder. It's the first headquarter of the Order, in "Terre Sainte". Now, it's a mosquee, of course.

A replacement for the original Apollo wonder.

The Apostolic Palace. It's a group of building in the Vatican. The Pope apartments is in.
Can be used as a christian temples enhancer (At least Cathedrals).

The Arc de Triomphe of the Place de l'Etoile (now Place De Gaule, if i remember correctly).
Build by Napoleon Bonaparte for is Grande Armée. Pure glory building, High tourism revenues.
Need probably a victorious army to be build.

I know, it's not a wonder, but money never looked so cute for me. And there is even my little One Cent.
Can be used for a banking or open market wonder, but also the first civ that create currency can build this "Currency Wonder" and give a little boost to their marketplaces.

The Bank of England. Give probably a boost for commerce by backing the other banks (i suppose, i'm not an expert in money).

The damn on the river Rance. Use tides for product mon... energy.

Tidal plants have uge effects on environment, but they produce energy at HALF the cost of nuclear one !

Add a tidal plant on all you costal cities if you have this improvment in your game, of simply act as a plant but NOT remplace the others (ie : Two plants in a city).

The city need coast AND river, of course.

The famous "base Edward", the most known USA military "improvment" in the world. Probably the third most known US improvment in the world after the White house and the Statue of Liverty.

Because, you know, the US president live here. Or it look as if he do.

If, as me, you separate the Airport (give commerce) and the Airbase (give Veteran air units), Edward can put a free Airbase in each of your cities.

The famous Basilique Montmartre, in Paris (yes, you know it : The great white church on the hill). Some found it ugly, some found it beautifull.
Strangely, she was build at the end of the XIX century (in middle industrial age, for us).

Probably act as an another church/cathedral in the city.

A replacement for the original Battlefield Medicine.

The Centre Beaubourg. More or less a big (and great) library and a museum. Can add culture to your city.
Build in the years 1970.

Officially, is name is "Centre George Pompidou", a French president, but noboy ever call him with this name.
Funilly enough, polititians and officials NEVER use the Beaubourg name, but apparently, after 30 years, Paris population still call it "Beaubourg".

The gigantic TV/radio tower in Berlin. Can be used as others relay towers.

The tower was build in the 1960 years, do actually 468 meters (with antenna), and is the fourth taller tower in Europe.

The famous "Berlin wall". I have no use idea for this thing in Civ. Maybe a modern "Wall of China".

The "Bibliotheque de France" is in fact in more than one building. This ugly and unpracticable one is the bigger and called "Bibliotheque François Mitterrand" (a former president).

As all books publisheds in france HAVE to be in at least one examplary in the Bibliotheque, you can make this wonder double the Libraries bonuses in your civ, or give free libraries.

The Billingsgate Fish Market, in London (don't dare ask me where is London, even if your are from USA. It's probably the only city out of USA with Aukland and Tokyo the writers from Marvel Editor known. By name, of course - You know, the creators of "multiversal powers" that can probably be beated by a Real Life dog. A SICK real life dog. A sick PUPPY real life dog. a SOCIALIST sick puppy real life dog).

Exit, in a form or another, since the XVI century.

Probably need a marketplace in the city. Act as a Granary if the city as none) and give bonuses to the marketplace.

The famous Brandenburg gate in Berlin. I don't know what can be his use in Civ. Maybe crime reduction.

Perhaps need the Berlin wall already build.

Broadway. A very long street in New York, but she is know for the part where a lot of theaters are.

Probably add culture and contents/happy face in your city. Broadway has some effect in the country, then probably one content or happy face in all the cities, too.

Walls of Carcasonne. The most fortified city in all middle-age France. In fact, only cities as Constantinople can be put at this level.

Probably give a BOOST in defense to units in the city (i hope you unchecked the "bombard defense" for City Walls, uh ? Cool, you are a clever boy).

Probably need a pre-existing City wall.

Central Arizona Project. a 541 km long aqueduct that take water in the Colorado river for peoples, irrigations and factories, basically from the lake Havasu to Tucson, via Phoenix.

Even if you can't add food bonuses in Civ, this canal probably give probably a huge commercial and industrial bonus to one or some cities, or add free Aqueducts in your cities.

Central park

Recreation part in New York. One of the most known all around the world (because you found wild wolves, dancing lions and all the Marvels superheroes under the threes).

Probably content/happy faces in the city.

The Charite. An Enormous hospital/university in Berlin. can probably add an Hospital in each city AND add a bonus in culture in the city it is build.

Chateau Frontenac, in Quebec.
As a end-middle-age castle, he probably give a big bonuse in defense for units in the city.

Churchill seaport.
An enormous FOOD specialized port. Can act as a free granary for all cities. Interresting boost for cities build or conquered in this era.

Need a coast nearby, of course, and probably an existing harbour, or even a commercial dock

CIA. A replacement for the original Intelligence Agency.
