Wonder Video problem

Hi,
I posted about this in RoM 2.3, ages ago, but alas it has still not fixed itself. It seems probably to be a problem with my computer, but who knows.
Basically, I love RoM - it is far better than BTS 'raw', IMHO. I've currently got the megapack, which is fully functional. However, the one odd thing I have experienced ever since getting RoM, and only on RoM is that whenever I build a wonder, the wonder video appears like the example below. ANy ideas? I have tried lowering graphics etc, and even a clean install.

Any help would be much appreciated.

PS, this happens about 99/100 starts, every now and again, the videos do work, although generally only for a short while before they return to this pixellated mash...

You wouldn't notice if you turned off the wonder videos... :) Other than that, I really don't know what you can do, I'm sure someone else can figure it out.

Hi - thanks for your help, Zappara, but none of these options seem to work. How annoying!
(Sorry for the late reply too - my stupid school has blocked this website!)

Does all other videos play correctly in your computer? Just a thought that it might be some kind of problem with video codecs. Updating graphics drivers for your card might help to, though you probably already got the latest drivers installed.

Well, the only other videos I can think of are the religion founding ones, and yes, they work perfectly. It is most odd.

I'm not much of a technowhiz, but my school policy would keep me up to date, I should imagine. WOrth a try, though - would I need to go to the Dell (computer is a Dell) website? Thanks for all your help!

I keep getting this problem too. Since it doesn't occur with other mods or the regular unmodified game, I'm assuming it is specific to this mod. The religion-founding "movies" will show up fine, but not the videos for the world wonders. Instead I get that static screen (as shown at the top of this thread). This is with version 2.52 but it was happening with earlier versions too.

There's program that lets you watch those videos without the game (google for it). I think it was named Bink play or something like that or search for programs that let you watch .bik files. Then check if you can watch the videos from the mod with that program and let me know how it went...

Hi Zappara,
I've had this programme for a while but never thought to check it out with the RoM videos. They work perfectly!
As they say, 'curiouser and curiouser'. Glad to see I am not the only one, however.

It turns out the problem only occurs on map sizes of Giant and Gigantic. When I changed the size to Huge (and left all other settings the same as before) the wonder videos played fine.
