Won't start

When I start Civ 5, I get a a black window for a moment, then a Windows Error Report. I've updated drivers and Direct X, and reinstalled.

What do I do?

If it has never run before (meaning this is the first time you start it), then please tell us the specs of your computer, especially the graphics card would be important.

Sorry about the belated response. Forgot about this thread.

Specs:
Windows XP SP3
NVIDIA Geforce XT 5900XT
153 GB Hard Drive
32.7 GB available
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 Ghz

Not quite sure what else is needed or what a dxdiag is. I not sure how to find my RAM either.

CPU and GPU are both way too weak for Civ V - the game won't run on that rig.

I agree with you buddy.
I have the same problem and I am confident that steam doesn't properly work on vista.
I have the same problem, I bought the game but I cannot play it. (Even me I have the black window). My computer specs are good. My only hope is that when I will buy and install the expansion pack I will solve the problem.
Do you know if it does exist a patch to let the game run without steam?
