I don't know if this has been posted before, but...

When I enter the Industrial Age my workers do not change their outfits. They keep dressed as Ancient Age workers. Has anyone experienced this?

Some background info: I first installed the 1.16f and later the 1.17f patch. My workers were ok. :)

Then I had to reinstall Civ3 and I directly applied the 1.17f patch. Then my workers started refusing to change their outfits...

Mine never have... Is their appearance supposed to change?

Yes... in the Ancient Age they wear some kind of toga, and when you discover some tech from the Industrial times (I don't remember which one), they change to some worker's overall.

I know this is a minor thing, but it was nice to see them changing their outfits, it really helped to flesh out that sense of progress -- and it is supposed to be a progress from the Middle Ages to the Industrial times, isn't it? ;)

Come to think of it, when I had played the game without the patch, then installed the patch they did change clothes. Now that I've installed the game then immediately installed the patch, my workers still look the same! I didn't really notice it though untill you brought it up.

Well, this was posted on Apolyton and I think it may be an explanation...

I think I´ve come to the conclusion that the reason that the worker graphics does not update is because you as a player don´t initiate the era transistion. E.g you buy or trade for the required tech instead of researching it yourself.

I base this on the fact that in one of the games mentioned above, I became the first civ to reach the modern age. I got the splash screen stating the "our civilization has entered a new age" (another thing missing if you buy/trade for the requisite techs) and then all the graphics got updated, including workers.

I hope Firaxis will fix this in the next patch.

I have seen this before, and it was related to the units_32.pcx file.

If you add any units to your mod, you must edit this file EVEN IF your new unit uses the same icon as an existing one.

The last 8 icons in that file must be shifted right once for each unit you add. If this is not done, then the industrial age icons can end up not changing, changing to something really odd (like a horseman), or dissapearing

Hope that helps

Edit: This does not rule out what the previous post states, because that could be true as well. This could be the cause of your problem, but doesnt have to be.
