I was wondering if it would be possible to have an option in game to set the order you prefer that workers build things? And also their preferences on what to build.

for example lets say I dont want my autobuilding workers dropping castles everywhere.

honestly, I don't like the autobuild function because as I discovered in BTS, they build forts where I don't want them to build them, which also wastes time that they could use in other things.

I wish there was the old auto build roads/railroads from Civ 3.

Auto-build Trade Routes is an option, they will only build roads. First focus is connecting cities, then connecting resources. Then I think they sit back and do nothing though... Wish they'd road ever tile so I didn't have to manually :) I like border roads so I can attack quicker.

I agree I would like the auto trade-route button to have them build roads on every square.

But what I meant was I want to be able to tell my autobuilders that they are to lets say build on resources, then do farms, then do mines, ect...

Wait, I thought the Auto-trade route option did put roads on every square?

I can live with auto-mated workers make bad choices on what to build where, if I want every square in a city 100% optimized i can do it manually, but i wish there was an option to stop auto-mated workers building forts.

The city governor affects what workers build for that city. Set it to commerce and research and they will build cottages. Set it to food and they will build farms. Hammers and they will build mines.

I discovered this when I switched what my governor was on (commerce to food) and they started plowing all my towns.

No matter what, though, they will build a fort or 2 over a town eventually :(
