In a game I played today; this happened:

workers_of_Jezus.JPG

Notice the workers walking on the ocean ?
I just automated them and they were on their way to the next tile. But instead of going 1 tile East, they went the whole map West, until they reached the tile of their choice and started mining.

I had that happen when I attacked a city from a Transport. The Tank drove across the water and then attacked it's target.

Those are not workers - it's Prophet Jesus, stacked with Prophet Peter...

Those guys better not let the Romans get a hold of them. We all know what happened to the last guy who walked on water. . . .

That's a funny bug. They must be VERY VERY devout Christians or maybe superhumans.......

It's related to the map seam. There's a number of bugs there...

Thank you one and all.

I don't mean to minimize your bug, it's just that I've been having a heck of a time with some of my own bugs and when I saw this and some of the poster responses it really provided some comic relief.

I hope you get it fixed but what can I say? Sometimes you just have to laugh.

 who said that blue stuff is water, I can even see foot prints....funny

In the computer representation, the map is flat and then both ends are stitched together to get a round (cylindrical) image presented to the user. Picture an Earth map with the Americas left, Europe and Africa in the middle and Asia on the right. To make it round, you have to glue somewhere halfway the pacific ocean. That's what Chieftess refers to as the seam. Now the computer needs to know that to go from Japan to California, it can travel east, cross the seam and end up in Frisco. Apparently some bugs cause that it doesn't always realise this, and instead sends the units the other way.

I've had repeated instances of units being animated on the other side of stretches of water, mainly during combat animations, although today it happened with cavalry on land, displaying a single rider with a full health bar until I moved the unit, whereupon the other two rode in from off screen to join him - maybe they'd been down the pub or something.

I do not know how to put an imago in the post, but when i have selected
a group of catapults and some other units and click again on select, every
time the whole group just start moving south-west , across mountains
and sea if they are nearby, then suddenly stops. Very weird. And when i
click on the group lying in the sea, it flows immediately back to it's
original position, and i can play on without any prolblem !! Then it is as
if you have seen a ghost.

I had this happen to me as well with my knights. I have no idea if it was a coincidence or not but it happened when I had selected my unit and right clicked his destination (I usually use the goto shortcut). I have not right clicked a destination since and have not seen any walking on water miracles since.

There were similar bugs in CIV3 relating to use of railroad. I'd often see troops "tapdance" a straight line from tile a to b if there was a railroad route connecting the 2 tiles, irrespective of how convoluted that route might be, they took a dead straight line a to b, including over water or whatever.

Also, sometimes armies would get separated from their leader, so you'd have the guy with the flag all on his own and his troops 10 squares away - at least until you moved them again when they'd suddenly turn up.

The other civ3 bug with armies was the army fight animation not stopping sometimes - really annoying when it was a cavalry army, you'd get the gunshot sound all the time he was on screen until next time you could move him.

These still existed in the final patch of C3C so its hardly surprising similar bugs exist in v1.0 of Civ4...
