world builder?

If it is going to be really good, ... a Road to War for Civ V should not take too long.

The Event scripting is what I really want to get a handle on.

I wish you luck. I would suggest learning lua now to help speed up the process. :)

I'm going to concentrate on a different era, the Colonisation era. ;)

You laid the most of the ground work for RtW, e.g. when events occur, just need to work out how Civ 5 will code events and it interaction with the Map.

btw: I bought a WWII book (The Second World War in the West by Charles Messenger) the other day and the first section was called "The Road to War"

A true road to war has its origin in the Versailles Treaty, but I've seen the origin used as the rise of Fascism in Europe in the 20's (Italy) or the 30's (Germany and Spain).

The book chapter named describes the period from 1919-1939.

I woiuld like to play Road to war for civ 5 too, because you'll have to play on 1UPT tiles with a lot of panzers, tanks, ... It'll bbe funny, but I will be running my computer at minimum or medium (probably minimum) and when I had even weaker comp than this one that I have now, I couldn't hear sound on Road to War and it took few minutes between turns, so...:(

At last they made a real map editor! The WB in Civ4 was... strange.
Useful for quickly testing out new stuff in-game, though... created new model/graphic/effect? *plonk* New promotion? *plonk* New building? *plonk* Something that triggers on a certain tech? *plonk*

Cheers, LT.

And now it's also "Publish mod?" *plonk*.

..though that has nothing to do with the World Builder.
For doing stuff in-game we'd be looking at the Tuner, which is also promising to be quite the debugger (check Dale's blog on his sig).

At some point I thought I saw some comment (somewhere) that Civ IV maps would be capable of being converted into Civ V maps... does anyone recall if this indeed was said, and if so, if this feature will be included in the world builder (or other editor)?

That was indeed mentioned.

All that was said (publicly) is that a Civ4 to Civ5 map converter will be available. ;)

I heard you couldn't take the world map and change the starting locations, so does that mean you can't make scenarios in the Civ V vanilla?

Please let it not be so! :(

Not true. I've already got a 3 scenario mod out (had to take it down temporarily due to a bug). Also, today I'll be making true start loc Earth maps and uploading them to the hub. :)

That is so unfair! You have such a head start on the rest of us... I was wanting to do just that. :p

Are you using my maps I posted as a guide? A couple things may be wrong on them (namely the capitals... at the time I created it, I wasn't 100% on what all of the capitals were). Nonetheless, I think it is a fairly good reference to use.

So, any word on these tools yet... checking the Tools section in Steam every five minutes is so frustrating.

:D

Nah just used the earth maps supplied by Firaxis and whacked down Civ/CS start locs. Didn't bother with resources, I don't have a month sitting there ensuring the resources are in the right spot, I've got a million mods I want to get out there and should be doing them. :p

OK... then tell them to hurry up and get the worlbuilder out to us so that we can relieve you and you can go back to working on your main mods. ;)

Where would I find some country / world maps that show where civ 5 type resources are located?

I haven't seen anything close to as nice as the middle school history textbooks we used that had fantastic country maps with little civ style resource icons.

Sammual

Have you tried the children's/young adults' section of a public library?
