ok, in the next version, if there is to be a next version, I will call that region African Union, because that will also work as an explanation to why all those different nations would come together.

Brazil? How do you figure that?

I can think of some other nations that I would put ahead of Brazil.

How I figured that out? Simple:
Brazil received million of immigrants from Western Europe, specially Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany. We also received lots of people from Eastern Europe, and lots of jews and arabs form all over the Middle East, and hundreds of thousands of japanese and chinese people, not to mention millions and millions of black slaves from Africa and the millions of indians who lived here.
I know the USA also received people from all over the planet, but the difference, races didnt mix there. In Brazil you most people are 1/16 portuguese, 1/16 italian, 1/16 german, 1/16 jewish, 1/16 black, 1/16 indian etc...
And that changes with the regions: In the Southern Region people look like europeans, due to the strong presence of italians and germans there, and because races didnt mix there. on the other hand, for example, in the Northeastern region, people are mainly mulattos.

Wouldn't that make you less diverse then? You have just one mixture race, rather than a bunch of different separate ones which make the country diverse? Plus the U.S. has over 300 million people compared to your 120 million.

But there are hundreds of different combinations here! In US you have white, black, hispanic, asian, jews and arabs.
In Brazil we have white, black, asian, arabs, jews, mulattos, indians, mamelucos, cafuzos, caboclos, etc, etc...
We have "pure" white people and "pure" black people, plus lots of different combinations. And our populations is estimated in 175 million. Its true that the US has far more people, but 175 millions is enough to fit every race in the world.

I agree that occasionally political correctness can go to far, but what is wrong with using more appropriate and less offensive terms for people. Like it or not the US has a long and dark history of rascism and hatred not to mention homophobia, patriarchy and a whole host of other evils. Language shapes the way that we think, calling a homosexual person a f@g or using gay to mean bad, is not only offensice, but conditions the mind to a type of thinking that is bigoted. Now I am not saying that we need ot contantly be on gaurd for political correctness, but we need ot realize that some traditions are stupid and have to go. We don't put leaches on people to cure deases and we don't inslave people. Lets also stop harming thme by the means by hich we describe them. Of cource though everyone has a free speech right, to an extent, to call people what ever they wish. It would be nie if they could escape their own little worlds though. AS for the term "BLack Africa" I am sure no offense was intended , but I am glad to see that African Union wil lbe used in the next version.

giffy i agree 100% with you, but I think excessive political correctness may lead to hatred, and I believe all of that "white guilt" thing is hipocrit.
About the term Black Africa, as I said, thats the way we call that region here in Brazil, and I assure you it has nothing to do with racism.

Just to thow my 2 cents in on the issue, 'Black Africa' just sounds like something they would use in those old Bugs Bunny cartoons in the 40s and 50s, to show it as a mysterious and savage place. Just the name connotates some not so nice stuff. What I'm trying to say is that more than the color of the people goes along with the name.

Perhaps the African Union would be more acurate for a WW3 sen, but it doesn't represent what in this sen is represented by 'Black Africa'. Especially with Libya's Khadaffi parading around in a bid for Leader. Perhaps the sen should be changed to reflect this current African Union. (Just a thought - haven't played it yet.)

The old name for Black Africa is "Ethiopia", now used by Abyssinia. Sub-Saharan Africa is the term journalists usually use today.

huh Abyssinia is the old name. We changed it to Ethiopia around 150 years ago (Im Ethiopian) black africa was Abyssinia not Ethiopia (just needed to clear that out)

Sorry, the name "Ethiopia" was originally used as the term for lands inhabited by Black people. Originally, an Ethiopian could have been a Black person from any where in Sub-Saharan Africa. (Just neede to clear that up).
