I am curious if it is worth getting PS2 (Epecialy a Pre-owned one for a cheaper cost) since I have looked into its features and noticed that it comes with a DVD player built in. Now, I already have a DVD player (Stand alone). Ive also had a disapointing experiance with the library of Dreamcast games since the console itself went flop with only a limited selection of games.

The pre-owned PS2 attracted me more due to its low price (I am currently an unemployed student seeking a part-time job and money is way tight with me), plus PS2's large library of games also attracted my attention which reminded me of the good old days when I had SNES.

Next obstical I need to hop over are my parents, (I have intentions of using my own money) since they beleve that its not worth it when I have 2 computers (I use the laptop the most while I rarely use the desktop) with a ton of games (Recently I see myself playing a few selected games (Civ3 being in the PC list) and using the computer for the internet) and an old game console that I hardly touch (Its the dreamcast system that I am planning to trade in for cash wich is discussed in another thread)

The next thing I am looking for is storage, I noticed that PS2 can be configured to lye down on its side or vertical like a PC tower.

Thank you for any information if PS2 is worth buying

PS, I was writing this at 2:10AM EDT :p

It all depends on what games you want to play. I'd advise taking a look at what games are available for the ps2 and seeing how many you would want. If you find enough that you think makes it worth purchasing a ps2, go ahead. :)

Check the games list and see wether you want PS2 or XBox, GameCube doesn't offer any competition so it doesn't need to be considered :p. The most notable games for PS2 would probably be GTA series, FF series, and the GT series. XBox, of course, has Halo (I don't know any others cause I have a PS2 no Xbox).

Yea Right GameCube has some of the best games if not the best :goodjob: :p

Let's see:
Wind Waker (don't poke fun at its kiddie graphics, you know you like it)
Ocarina of Time and other Zelda Games on collectors edition (BEST GAME EVER)
Super Smash Bros. Melee
many others i dont want to mention... :crazyeye:

Don't bother. The next generation is right around the corner.

Though what comes to mind about PS3 is that, will it be compadible with any of the DDR games and the dance pad?

I have no doubt that it will, for the newer versions.. If it doesn't, then there will definitely be an adaptor for the older ones.

*yawns* I'm not even sure if it's worth responding to such an ignorant statement, as Nintendo-bashers always seem to just ignore my rebuttals.

And before you write me off as another fanboy, keep in mind I'm getting a PS2 in the near future, mostly just for DDR and the Metal Gear Solid series. An Xbox I would like for Ninja Gaiden and Star Wars: KOTOR, but I simply don't have time to be a full-time multi-console owner. It saddens me that so many people must be so ignorant as to write off the Gamecube as a "kiddy" system just to make themselves feel more mature.

If you feel that you have some actual justification in your belief that the Gamecube is a worthless system, I'm all ears.

Although right now it's mostly speculation, the next Xbox is said to be released late 2005, Revoultion can be expected a year later, and the PS3 probably in 2007.

While it may seem strange that the PS3 is releasing so late, the new trimmed-down PS2 obviously shows that Sony is going to attempt to extend the PS2's life as long as possible.

That has always been their intentions from what I remember reading. Before it was released, I remember reading something about Sony making the ps2 deliberately hard to write games for, simply to extend it's lifespan.

And if you want KOTOR, you should get a pc that can play it. :p

I've had so many problems with PC games in the past that I avoid playing most PC games now. And I think KOTOR would eat up way too much of my time. :p

This is turning into another one of those threads... :hmm:

There're no GC games I'd die for. I only like playing turn-based RPGs, and strategy RPGs - which GC offers little of. And KOEI's Dynasty Warriors series and RoTK strategy series. End of story. :p

It's worth getting, the PS2 has the largest collection of games out there, not including the playstation games that are also compatiable with it.

PS2's can be good. I have had 2, one broke and was stolen-i got a new one of of insurance wich broke after a couple of months. There are some good games like dynasty warriors and devil may cry. Also it has FF games on it, so i HAVE to have one

YES!!!...go buy one straight away.

Lots of good online games right now(network adapter extra)

..and..today is the day GTA-San Andreas hits stores!!!!

GTA3 and GTA Vice City are worth getting a PS2 just by themselves.

I can't help but be a Nintendo fanboy at every chance possible. :p

But seriously, ignorant statements like "gamecube is inferior to ps2 and xbox" just piss me off. I can understand why some people prefer the PS2 and Xbox, why does everyone have such a hard time understanding why some people also happen to prefer the Gamecube?

It's not so much the console-bashing that angers me as the ignorance does. If I happened to see someone bash the Xbox because they claim all it has is Halo, I would point out that there's other solid titles on the console such as Ninja Gaiden and Star Wars: KOTOR (although that's also for PC :p).

Yes. If this is "turning out like another one of those threads", then maybe the ignorant people shouldn't just randomly say practically: GameCube is bad.

Think about it. No one says your opinions are perfect to you know. Some prefer things over other things.

I never bash the GC. I just said there's no GC game I'd die for. Ignorant? I just think it's a matter of preference.
