WOTM 67 (Cathy) - First Spoiler

Use this thread to tell us what happened in your game, up to 1AD!
How did it go?
Find somewhere better to settle?
Meet any other civilizations?
Did you rush them despite their mighty buffs of archer and hill?

Stop! If you are participating in WOTM 67, then you MUST NOT read this thread unless EITHER
  • You have reached at least 1 AD in your game, OR
  • You have submitted your entry

Posting Restrictions

  • Please do not disclose ANY events or information gained post 1 AD.
  • Please do not reveal your final result if that happened after 1 AD.
  • Please do not discuss the location of resources that may not show up before 1 AD. (Iron is OK, coal and oil are not)
  • Please do not reveal names or locations of any civilization not accessible by galleys.
  • Do not post any savegame file from the game. Discussions and screenshots are fine but not actual games

SIP. Didn't bother trying to find better places.
Met everyone (I think so anyway :old:).
No rush, with what would I have rushed anyway?

Stalin built the Iron Curt...Great Wall early and later built Pyramids. I built Parthenon and Artemis. Khan settled the gem site before I could.
Founded Hinduism and Buttism. Let others found later religions to cause wars among the AI. Too soon to know if that works but at least one war is already in progress.
8 cities (I think, can't really remember that far back :old:) with room for 3 more.

Really stupid having identical empire names among the AI. I often get demands to stop trading with this or that civ, never really knowing who they are talking about. The same with wars, especially if a civ declares on the same turn there's no way to know which of the identical named civs I'm asked to attack.
The solution would be easy, simply naming Stalin's people something like "Commie Slaves", Peter's people "Peasant Slaves" etc.
I guess random personalities mean we won't know what those traits are? At least favorite civics are not what the game says.

You can always rush with horse-archers ;)

Took all but 1 of Mongolian empire to the north (4 VERY decent cities), and @ 1 AD had taken 3/7 cities of the Russian empire (including capital). His capital had pyramids, Partheon, ToA, stonehenge, 1 settled GP and one of his other cities had the buddist shrine (+8gold)! Also stole 7-8 of his workers while taking one of the cities. Settled 6 cities myself, making it a total of 13 cities. Going somewhat slow techwise, but got the important techs (calendar and currency), should snowball into a decent techspeed in the next 500 years.

No plan yet, but I guess this will be a decent space game.

Apologies.

The game automatically gave the civs different colors, so I didn't bother editing the save to update them, and so didn't fix the empire names. I can guarantee that the next game I post have edited empire names.

AFAIK, there is no way to know what the personalities are.

I am off to what looks like a very promising start, quite similar to Solyaris' game.

After expanding to 6 cities also decided for horse archers and going after Kublai. Took 5 cities from him and left him with 1 city in the NE extracting some techs in the process. Followed suit with Augustus, who was at the top of the ranks. Couldn't let the 18 horse archers sit idly anyway. At 1 AD got 3 cities from him, hope to get some more including Rome that has the Pyramids. August is fielding elephants now, so probably won't be able to get his whole empire with HAs.

Settled one more city myself so at 1 AD I'm quite pleased with my 15 city empire. Especially Kublai gave me a lot of workers, for this stage I have the rather insane number of 23 workers which nicely fits the 1.5 worker/city adage. :D Built 7 of those myself.

Currently bleeding money at 0%, but CoL, currency and calendar are in so that should be okay. 14/15 cities actually on courthouses now while conquest cash keeps me afloat. :)

I don't have my mind set on a particular VC yet. Probably won't be culture though. :mischief:
