Would it be good to describe Old World as CK2 inside of Civ?

I am a huge fan of both Civ series and Crusader Kings 2. And from what I know about Old World it seems that it is like a combination between these two games. How well would that reflect it? And in terms of complexity how is it compared to these two?

Hello Ranger0001

I don't think it's fair to say that CK2 has been placed into the Civilisation series when it comes to Old World. There is only ever one title the player can have (King/Queen of your nation) and though the character interaction in OW is great (they grow, get an education, acquire traits and you can nudge them in the right direction and improve them), it's not quite as detailed as CK. In terms of complexity, it's definitely closer to Civ IV level of design and interaction than the later Civ games. It has a lot of moving parts and it can take many playthroughs before you feel comfortable with everything, let alone learn to use mechanics to their full potential. It definitely feels like a spiritual successor to the older Civ games, which makes me happy. :D

Kind regards,
Ita Bear

Ah okay, thank you. I wanted a game that will take a while to get used to like that so that is good. How is the modding situation so far or is it still too new to really have any worthwhile ones?

The game's super moddable, with the source code being available, like Civ4. Mods can thus achieve a lot and change the game in dramatic ways, but there aren't yet any major mods out. There's a couple adding nations or rebalancing units, but no major overhauls.
