Would like some input into this Monarchy game (Zulu)

Yes and if you use one worker it is going to take you however many turns to completion before you can get to the next tile!

Which is a short term strategy for a short term goal. It does not make sense long term and produces 'worker' waste. While it is okay to say that you would rather not micromanage and that suits your playing style just fine, it is another thing to hold it up as a good suggestion.

As the general feel to his post is that he wants to improve, we are not going to suggest he do something wasteful particularly because the worker moves of the first 60-100 turns sets the stage for a successful game or a dismal crawl (or outright failure).

It is simple to prove. Start a game with three workers. In one game separate your workers to complete roads. In one game only allow them stack. In the first game your three workers will create three roads in 4 turns (one for moving, three for each individual road). By stacking, you will create the first road on round two (where you would not have a road at all in the first game). You will receive your second road on round four (but you will have three roads in the 1st version).

If you replicate this often enough, you will see the waste very clearly. In fact, other than successfully pulling off two addition gold in commerce over the opening round, the second approach will forever be 'behind' the first approach (though there will be a tie in round 6, never to be gained again).

Now stacking workers to improve a tile with a road is something different. And if you are after a very specific goal, then the waste is tolerable, but still not ideal.
