Would you play 3 XOTMs per month?

If there were a GOTM (vanilla), a WOTM, and a BOTM every month, which would you play?

In other words I'm not sure those 13 aren't just saying "I want to play as much as possible, you put a game out I'll play it no matter what the version"
I think some are saying that ... which means if we build it (WOTM), they will come. Which keeps up the participation in WOTM, and that is what I am trying to assess.

Have you seen the other poll where the question is essentially "keep WOTM or not" (at some frequency), which is running just over 50% saying keep? So I don't think WOTM is as orphaned as you want to infer from this poll.

Are you looking to have a BOTW? (Bts Of The Week!) ;)

I probably would play the ones that I found interesting and didn't get crushed on from some early event. So, likely you would find sporadic play across the three. I think that's a good thing.

Yeah, but if they are gong to play anyway ... you will get all of them and more if you made it BTS for the most part. As I pointed out there seems to be no one who says they will not participate at all (ie answered "play WOTM only) if Warlords is taken away. So overall xOTM player population is not affected at all by whether WOTM stays or goes (can't say that about other two).

I'm still not sure (literally, I'm not sure) the same logic doesn't apply there, that some are responding "keep it" because they think it implies more opportunities to play xOTM. If you look at almost all the options floating around, 6/6/12 is almost never mentioned, in other words keeping warlords usually implies having more game opportunities overall.

I think the question you need to ask to find that out is something like "Given a choice between two xOTM with the same parameters (leader, difficulty, map, etc) and the only difference is one is BTS and the other Warlords, would you ever choose to play the Warlords one over the BTS one?" If anyone answered yes to that, unless they simply do not own BTS I would like to ask them as follwup : Do you understand that 1) everything from warlords is still in BTS, 2) the AI is generally believed to be much better in BTS?

Egads no, I would get fired, divorced, or both ;) In hindsight it was probably a blessing that I got a break from xOTM the last 6 months, otherwise I'd be even more up to my eyeballs in work than I already am

But as I push deper into BOTM01, I am already getting nostalgic that there probably won't be a BOTM2 until Feb 15th :(

Likely to play 2 out 3 most months. Perhaps 3 once in a while. Main factor would be time available, to a lesser degree version. If i had to chose, i would go with less warlords and more vanilla and bts.

[Now MarkM discusses other poll (dV)]

We don't know if the group who would play all three would really not object to not having Warlords. Same applies to the Warlords plus one other crowd. I was not trying to test whether two or three BOTM a month (BOTF: BtS of the Fortnight?) was prefered, just trying to assess the competition dilution issues of one game a month of each version. If the staff gave an indication that multiples of one version per month were an option, then polling that might make sense.

The "keep or drop poll" in its first post clearly asked if Warlords should stay in a 24 game total ... so if folks read that (horse to water and all that), then they should not be voting keep becuse they think it is more games. But you never know ...

6/6/12 gets little play (at least from me) because I recognize the value of an "entry level" GOTM most months for new blood, not because I like vanilla over Warlords (if it was just me, 0/12/12 would be fine)

Regarding next BOTM ... if nothing else, this poll suggests that a BOTM should occur on the 15th of every month! ;) The question is whether to have 12 GOTM on the 1st, a blend of GOTM and WOTM on the 1st, or 12 GOTM on the 1st and some added WOTM every other month.

Heya dV, I was just trying to help tease meaning out of the raw numbers, which can be fraught with unintentional misinterpretation (as Twain said, There are three kinds of lies: Lies, d@mn lies, and statistics). For my personal POV, I think there should be 12 BOTM (every month), that's enough for me. I don't think there needs to be any more, and I think I see general consensus that there should not be any less. So I think I'm probably good with whatever happens. For me personally the rest of the argument about GOTM/WOTM ratio is completely academic.

I guess I was just assuming BOTM02 would not start til Feb because BOTM01 is not due until 2/1, and figured it wouldn't start after that finishes, and that probably means 1/15 will be a WOTM. But I suppose that doesn't have to be the case ...

I appreciate your comments on the interpretation of the data, even if I disagreed with some of it (or more precisely, with the degree of certainty you seemed to imply for one interpretation ... not that I was any less guilty of that myself perhaps  )

Mark Twain popularized in the U.S. Benjamin Disraeli's statement, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics."

In case you are interested ... :mischief:

If you don't get your one BOTM every month, I will be the first one to argue your case! ;) :goodjob:
