I searched the forums before and the number of times I've played Civ4, I've never had an AI launch a Nuke at me! I thought they couldn't or never do!

Kind of freaked me out. Considering I was so FULLY confident I'd win the game with Nukes to back me while the AI never do. I'm certainly wrong about that! Not saying I can't win without them but its nice to have some sort of last resort when the AI get out of hand. :p

I don't know if this is a Warlord expansion thing or a AI aggressive option thing. I checked the AI aggro box in my custom game.

Is this a bug or the real thing? lol
Of course when I first bought Civ4 (not Warlord), I assumed they could launch nukes too. But found out they don't.
And now I (Queen Elizabeth of England and the world :king: ), get a explosive present dropped from the sky by Mr. Peter of Russia! WTH?!

How foolish can he be?! He's not so lucky considering I shot his puny nuke out of the sky! He's messing with the wrong person if he thinks he can get away with this!!!

AI's used to love dumping their whole nuclear arsenal against barb cities before warlords 2.08 patch. I've never had MAD since i tend to ban nukes in UN, though.

I havent seen the AI use nukes since Civ2, where they used to launch their entire arsenal on one single turn.

This is freakin me out now lol.

I playing Noble, marathan, 18 civs, As Elizabeth. In the Modern Age and only have future tech to research.

I am in the lead with the highest score 4001, (2)Brennus around 3600 (3)Roosevelt 3400 and (4)Peter 2900.
Though I am the wealthiest, and most cuturalist and 4 vassals (Japan, Vikings, China, Germany) I am not the most powerful one sadly. Not yet anyway. In a few turns I will be :nuke:

Peter is alittle bit more in power then I. I can "Buy" myself units and make him beg for mercy but I just want to know how he was able to nuke me. Yea he's alittle mor epowerful which can be the reason but how is any AI in general able to nuke? Is this something new just recently or was I just super lucky in the past to be immune to Nukes?

Every civ within access + tech to use uranium can build nukes as soon as 1 civ (player, ai) completes manhattan project... so they can be backwards (Hello North Korea!!).

My second game of Warlords I saw Churchill build Manhattan project ("we will nuke you on the beaches...") and then Hannibal lauched a nuke at Stalin (both ai's). I havent seen it since.

I've run into the AI nuking barb cities, as well as random fallout clouds I couldn't readily explain, haven't been the since Civ 2, I remember that well too, minding my own business the game was basically lost, i hung in for spite, then Jim Morrison starts signing "this is the end, beautiful friend, the end . . . " then the nuke siren went and my pee started to glow in the dark.

Dig back to the posts around the time when Warlords was released. (Or possibly the 1.61 patch for vanilla?) But the AI has been nuke capable for quite a few months now. Some would even say "nuke happy" given how often the AI uses nukes.

As soon as I see the Manhattan Project get completed, it's time to put my highest production city to work building SDI and all of my large cities start building bomb shelters as soon as possible. Because the AI will now use nukes, and they will go after your best cities.

I still wish that there was an upgrade to SAM infantry that turned them into combination aircraft / nuke busters. I think SDI should've been an "enabler" but that you still need to position anti-nuke troops in every city that you want to protect. But I suspect nukes were added too late in the development process.

Monty loves to nuke me. Fortunately for me, Monty is usually on such poor terms with every AI, everyone ends up attacking him for using nukes (its like -26 diplomacy hit) If you are the most advanced nation, I would recommend building the UN before the Manhattan Project. This way you can see who is SG. If its not you, dont build MP until you get SDI to protect your cities (The AI seems to like to just nuke cities, while I like to nuke cities right before I invade them). If you are SG, build MP and as soon as you are done rush build as many nukes as possible, then call for a ban on nukes. The ban will halt production on nukes being built, but will not destroy the ones you have.

FYI - If you like to be evil and just cripple every city in an Empire, nuke the cities then move in fast moving units to pick off the workers as they come out to clean up the pollution. I love to watch once glorious capitals shrink to ruins.

Why paint the town red, when you can paint a city orange?

Well...

In civ 4, it never happen to me yet, but in Civ 3, several time they launch at me... sure, i might push them a little bit, by nuking all is territory...:crazyeye: ... but he have retal me. Even after he beg for peace... he launch a preemtive nuclear strike to me... SO yes, the AI is able to nuke you, but i never saw it in civ 4
