WW2 Unit Graphics

It turns out there were two different Panzerkampfwagen II mit Schwimmkörper (great name Nazis!). Any preference?

Well, I like Erika's the best, but unfortunately, it's from the wrong side. :mischief:

I think the first. It will be more distinguishable as a tank. The second will just look like a boat. Once its ashore and fighting on land, it will seem quite out of place. Here's another view of a schwimmpanzer utilizing a pz 38T.

Also, thanks for the updated Morris.

Wise choice - to prove your point here's the pz 38(t) version on land. Er.... yeah

@ Erika - do you want to take this one on? It seems right up your alley having seen those great mods you make

I wish I could draw half as good as all of you. You can design the best scenario in the world, but if the art is lacking, it just isn't as fun.

Not ALL of the rest of us. I'm also in the "green with envy" boat (though I have, of late, been trying my hand at the flag and roundel icons indicating national, rebel and paramilitary organization, and military unit allegiance of a unit in a scenario for more obscure such affiliations that haven't otherwise been made, with varying degrees of success. I posted a collection of some of my work on that somewhere on these forums. I can't do much beyond that, I'm afraid).

@Fairline : Great work! Meanwhile, here's a mod of the aforementioned Italian Dardo/ Freccia (4 ships) Folgore (4 ships) and the Dardo derivative Greek Koundouriotis class (4 ships).

Turkish Adatepe (2 ships) & Tinaztepe (2 ships) classes were similar, but had the twin funnels of the previous Turbine /Navigatori classes (8 &12 ships):

These were all based on the earlier, smaller Sella class destroyers (4 ships). Two were sold to Sweden as the Psilander class. Sweden also built 4 identical destroyers of the Mode class, with domestic weaponry.
There were also 4 more of the Sauro subclass made by Italy.

The final developments of the Sella family of destroyers were the lengthened Dardo, the Maestrale (4 ships). The Oriani (or Poeti) class (4 ships) differed in machinery. One was given to France as reparation. The Soldati class (19 ships) was the wartime built version that had better ASW armament -three were given to France and two to the USSR as reparations. Two served Italy post-war up to 1965.

32 Spica class torpedo boats were built for the Regia Marina; two were transferred to the Swedish navy. They were closer to corvettes or small destroyer escorts in size (they incorporated design elements from the Maestrale, above). Very important, despite its size. In service into the 60s. The Orsa (4 boats) and Ciclone (16 boats) were slightly wider and had ASW armament. Surviving ships served the Italian navy as ASW frigates post war, until1964. Some of the Ciclone were seized by the Germans after the armistice. After the war three Ciclone boats were taken by the USSR and two by Yugoslavia as war reparations. 16 of the improved Ariete class were seized by the Germans, Two of these were seized & completed by Yugoslavia post WWII; they served into the 70s.

Nice work T

@Tech: I've tweaked a fair few of the units again and added a landing barge. If Erika isn't up for the schimmpanzer I'll draw that next.

Changed the Furious to have more upper flight deck, added a new leFH18 10.5cm gun, found a few more errant magentas and changed the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. The yellow and red turrets may seem bizarre but that's how they were painted, at the start of the war at least, and it helps distinguish them from Bismarck.

Minesweeper added to the list. The cruiser IV was meant as a replacement for the Valentine (a 1941 tank)

I dunno Tech - I was mis-using the name the Germans gave the SP gun version they made of the Renault carrier....
